Communications and Community Outreach Intern

Clean Green Beautiful North Bay & District Inc. is a community-based environmental organization run solely by volunteers. We are dedicated to fostering our community growth and wellness.
As the first employee of our not-for profit organization, you will report directly to the Board of Directors. The Communications & Community Outreach Intern will further the education and outreach goals of Clean, Green, Beautiful North Bay and District Inc. using creative and effective digital, written, and interpersonal communication strategies and skills. The Intern will undertake activities to inform, educate, engage, and collaborate with the community in environmental activities that would have a social, economic, and environmental impact to the City of North Bay. The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist in the planning and delivery of 2025 CGB outreach initiatives to achieve the mission, vision and values of CGB, promoting behaviours that foster stewardship of the land, water and community, raise civic pride, and enhance the beauty of North Bay.
- Develop and implement a communications and marketing plan to raise public awareness of CGB and its goals as well as successfully deliver CGB initiatives utilizing a variety of channels including social media, media relations, graphic design, events, website updates, and volunteers.
- Work with CGB volunteers to support and expand clean-up greening and beautification efforts.
- Assist with the development of a community outreach and marketing plan related to Communities in Bloom (2025) including the preparation of materials and community profile book, community engagement, and leadership in continuing the Communities in Bloom program in North Bay.
- Assist CGB with fundraising and sponsorship efforts.
- Assist CGB with continuing the Community Resiliency Fair in 2025
- Submit reports as requested
- Attend Board of Directors and committee meetings
- Other duties as assigned
**Your Qualifications**
- Proven oral and written communications skills.
- Basic graphic design, social media, and website management skills; videography skills an asset
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively and enthusiastically with a range of stakeholders including volunteers, business owners, donors, and the public.
- Work in a professional, positive, enthusiastic manner to deliver superior customer service.
- Well-organized with general administrative, database and file management skills, with attention to accuracy and detail.
- Must have a valid MTO “G” driver’s license with a clean driving record. Access to a vehicle is an asset.
- Previous grant writing experience would be an asset
- Must have a degree/diploma in Business, Marketing, Communications, Community Outreach, Volunteer Management, or other related degree/diploma.
**Your Reward**
Wage rate of $22.00 per hour, based on a 35-hour work week.
Contract position: 52 weeks beginning January 2025.
Some weekend and evening work will be required during events
