Chilliwack, Canada Cheam First Nation Full time

The Executive Assistant is responsible for performing daily tasks that will support the Chief Administrative Officer. The incumbent will be responsible for administrative, clerical, research and other supports required by the CAO. This position is Full time permanent and based in the Cheam First Nation Band Office in Rosedale, BC.

**Required Qualifications / Education / Experience / Skills**:

- Minimum of two years’ work experience in a related administrative position.
- Direct experience working with First Nations government as an Administrative Assistant is considered an asset.
- Proven experience taking formal meeting minutes, transcribing minutes and preparing action items is required.
- Advanced computer literacy and skills in Xyntax System, Excel, MS Word and other databases.
- Ability to work in a team geared, cultural and politically sensitive environment.
- Proficient with community and staff engagement.
- Ability to maintain Confidentiality and abide by Cheam First Nations’ Policies and Procedures.
- Ability to work the occasional evening and weekend
- Knowledge, respect and understanding of Stó: lō culture, traditions and language is considered an asset.
- Experience working with First Nations community is considered an asset.
- Valid BC Driver’s License, Class 5.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Administrative Functions:

- Responds to general inquiries and redirects phone calls to appropriate staff.
- Draft, organize, and distribute all meeting announcements, community notices, schedules, and events as required.
- Attend, take and draft minutes of all meetings and conference calls, relaying action items and other activities required for follow-up.
- Assemble reports and/or other administrative paperwork as required.
- Perform photocopying and faxing as required.
- Work with other departments to streamline communications between the CAO and the departments.
- Support CAO through digital signature for documents requiring signature via DocuSign.
- Follow up on timelines and deadlines on projects, to ensure consistent productivity.
- Work closely with the Council EA to support reporting to the Council.

Supporting Governance:

- Support with governance mandate and policies.
- Support governance with other departments and their policies/funding
- Support governance with the governance structure of the Nation and policy development
- Pursuant to S. 41 of the BC Human Rights code, preference may be given to Applicants of Indigenous, Métis, or Inuit heritage_
