Reporting to the VP of Commercial and Logistics, the Sales and Accounts Manager will be responsible for the successful sourcing, development and securing of the annual volume and revenue objectives. This will include soliciting new customers and developing new opportunities. They will be responsible for developing and maintaining a pipeline of new volume and customers and updating the organization on the status of the new volume progress. The Sales and Accounts Manager will ensure they maintain a strong understanding of the market and its competitive forces, challenges and opportunities. There will also be a responsibility to develop and implement a strategy to ensure the organization retains and increases business with these existing clients while ensuring significant new customer opportunities. They will also work closely with the Manager of Customer Relations and internal departments to maintain a consistent and high level of engagement with customers building their trust, confidence and overall satisfaction with CPX.
The main objective of this role is to maximize profitable volume through partnering with existing clients and attracting new clients.
**KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
Market Intelligence and Strategy
- Maintains a good understanding of the business and, with this knowledge, develop solutions and future opportunities for business development with new and existing clients
- Keep up to date on market trends/competitors, report on trends and make recommendations to the Management Team
- Conduct market research and identify business opportunities for new and or incremental business in collaboration with Operations
- Develop and implement strategy to expand market reach with new clients on a local, regional or national level
- Proactively remain connected to clients and the ever-changing market to access new search opportunities and ensure all viable clients are engaged on a regular and effective basis
Business Development
- Research new opportunities, customers and lanes that would improve profitability and grow competitive advantage
- Seek, obtain and retain customers/volumes to balance lanes and activities
- Develop and maintain a rich pipeline of qualified opportunities, track progress and regularly update the leadership on the success and conversion rate, sales and period trend reports, and other key metrics
- Build confidence as a trusted advisor and solutions provider for current and potential customers
- Develop, grow and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients, stakeholders and customer
- Lead business development presentations, prepare client proposals, negotiate contracts and capture key business requirements for customer
- Build internal company profiles for each client detailing company/business unit structure, stakeholders, decision makers and current and potential supply chain spend
- Represent the organization at relevant tradeshows, conferences, and events as required
- Manage necessary details of these events to attract new business opportunities and ensure the organization has a strong and understood profile in the market
- Work collaboratively with the Commercial and Operations Team on business development opportunities
Costing and Pricing
- Support the Financial Planning and Analysis Team in the creation and maintenance of costing and pricing models
- Review and recommend lane prices in alignment with financial goals and targets
- Utilize strong strategic orientation with the ability to leverage insights when building customized client solutions
- Conduct negotiations and communicate price adjustments and increases to customers.
- Ensure that contract terms, conditions and operating assumptions are clear and understood by internal staff
- Support customer onboarding process
Customer Relations
- Support the Customer Relations Manager in the review of customer satisfaction and alignment of expectations
- Work with Customer Relations Manager to oversee customer accounts and interactions with CPX to ensure questions, issues and concerns are effectively managed internally and reach the appropriate conclusions
- Serve as the primary point of contact for a select group of clients where required
Organizational Support
- Ensures compliance with customer contracts by fully understanding contracts and communicating all service delivery expectations to the Operations team
