**Salary**: $26.86 per hour to $32.94 per hour

The Public Safety and Emergency Services is responsible for all provincial correctional and remand centers, young offender programs and community corrections across the province.

In Alberta, the Correctional Services division oversees youth who are serving a sentence in a youth custody facility and sentenced to community sentences.

The division also works with other areas of government to provide programs to support youths’ personal development including:

- education
- mental and physical health
- addictions treatment
- housing

In this role, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Effective case management services: Conduct investigations, prepare reports, attend court, and supervise young persons within applicable federal and provincial legislations, divisional policies and procedures and any other relevant operational manuals to maintain correctional and rehabilitation programs.
- Supervision and support for youth programs: Collaborate with a number of community partners to administer programs for young persons supervised out of the Youth Attendance Centre such as the curfew compliance programs, community service work program and educational programs.
- Misc. administrative duties to ensure the centre operates as part of the community.

As a Correctional Peace Officer, you will represent the Correctional Services Division in the community by demonstrating exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills as well as excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Exemplifying these skills are essential in influencing positive behaviour in this environment as well as establishing and maintaining positive relationships with youth, staff, and the public.
