**JOB SUMMARY**
- Road Safety and Traffic Investigations is responsible for coordinating and directing traffic investigations, collecting, analyzing and processing traffic field data, and developing procedures to enhance safety for drivers and pedestrians through the continuous review of evolving traffic and collision patterns and the timely revision of speed limits and upgraded traffic control devices. The unit manages the implementation, monitoring, assessment, refinement and development of installation criteria for traffic control devices and safety initiatives such as the Community Safety Zone Program and Adult Crossing Guard Program to maximize their effectiveness, and is responsible for the investigation of fatal collisions to determine the role of the road and its infrastructure in the cause or severity of those collisions.
- You are responsible for researching, planning, coordinating and implementing assigned projects and initiatives associated with the Safer Roads Ottawa Program and its goal of preventing or eliminating road deaths and serious injuries for all people in the City of Ottawa, through culture change, community engagement, and the development of a sustainable safe transportation environment.
- You: compile and analyze data/information, prepare briefings and program reports, and respond to stakeholder and departmental inquiries and requests; liaise with community associations and the Safer Roads partners (Ottawa Fire Services, Paramedic Services, Police Services, Public Health and the Transportation Services Department); propose new projects or initiatives that fall within the scope of the Program; and coordinate community events to promote safer roads.

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Completion of 3 year degree or diploma in Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in communications, public relations or marketing.

**KNOWLEDGE**
- Applicable federal, provincial and municipal legislation related to departmental programs and services
- Possess general knowledge of the Corporation, departmental business requirements, policies and organizational structure
- Principles and techniques of project management
