**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Reporting to the Senior Advisor, Ministerial Affairs, the Manager, Ministerial Affairs and Integration plays a vital role in the effective execution and functioning of day-to-day operating protocols in support of organizational business goals, policy objectives, new developments, and hot issues management. The Manager supports the development and implementation of Canada Post’s strategic communication and outreach approaches, effectively maintaining and enhancing communications between Canada Post, the Minister’s Office, and related stakeholders.

Advocates for Canada Post’s strategic business direction, across company functions, ensuring that the Shareholder’s mandate is well represented across all business groups. Remains current with corporate direction and initiatives and assists with communicating key messages to the shareholder.

The Manager prepares Question Period notes, Parliamentary Questions and Petitions, and ensures that the proper information is gathered on behalf of the Corporation. As a liaison, the Manager provides information on Canada Post programs and initiatives to the Minister’s Office and other Government departments as needed.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**

Below are the main job requirements and responsibilities for the Manager, Ministerial Affairs and Integration.
- Facilitates and maintains close and productive relationships with the Minister’s Office to ensure effective execution and functioning of day-to-day operating protocols in support of organizational business goals, policy objectives, new developments, and hot issues management.
- Integrates and facilitates communication channels with the Government and Community Affairs team for all corporate initiatives and investment projects.
- Develops and maintains a strong network of contacts across the Corporation, particularly with members of the Government and Community Affairs team and stays current with Corporate direction and initiatives. Identifies conflicting issues with the Minister's mandate and follows up to proactively resolve.
- Responsible for monitoring Parliamentary activities in the House of Commons and the Senate and prepares Question Period notes for the Minister to facilitate the appropriate response to opposition questions in the House of Commons. Prepares Parliamentary Questions and Petitions and ensures that proper information is gathered on behalf of the corporation.
- Builds awareness of the Minister's interests and direction with the management team and collaborates with them to proactively identify and resolve concerns. Provides information to the Minister’s office on Canada Post programs and initiatives.
- Provides the Minister’s office with briefings and information concerning Canada Post’s business, policy objectives, new developments, and hot issues.
- Supports counterparts whose clients include members of parliament and their staff in Ottawa, and ensures parliamentary requirements are met.
- Conducts business in a manner that reflects Corporate Values and Leadership Behaviours and Habits. Fosters meaningful relationships, founded in trust, respect and mutual understanding aligned with the mandate that the government, the Minister and the Chair of the Board have articulated to the Corporation.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education**

Completed University degree or college diploma in Communications, Political Sciences, Public Relations or related field.

**Experience**
- 3 to 5 years of relevant functional experience
- One or more years of experience in a unionized environment an asset
- Proficient computer skills and competent with Microsoft Office programs
- Excellent team building and leadership skills and experience
- Detail oriented, analytical, judgement and decision-making skills with proven abilities in problem solving
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build and maintain relationships
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Fluent bilingualism in French and English, both written and verbal (BBBB)
