**What you'll do**
- Distribution & Asset Planning Strategies has a challenging opportunity for an Integrated Planning Studies Lead to join the
- Distribution Asset Planning team based at BC Hydro's Edmonds office in Burnaby, BC. This position will contribute to the
- “Plan” function of BC Hydro’s Plan - Build - Operate - Support business model and act as process and initiative lead to
- planning engineers who perform distribution system planning and studies to manage system assets for growth, reliability
- and system performance.
- The key accountabilities for the Integrated Planning Studies Lead are:
- Provides a broad and demonstrated high level of professional system planning expertise and leadership in substation

peak load forecasting and distribution and integrated area capacity planning and is recognized as having expert technical
- knowledge in these fields.- Leads the development of short and long term distribution substation peak load forecast, engages and collaborates with
- strategic needs and broad established and/or trending industry practices.- Leads the development of distribution system plans, practices, and quality processes, provides independent review of high

risk/complex plans and technical planning work by others, and makes sustained, wide-ranging and indispensable
- contributions to the present and future success of BC Hydro’s distribution system.- Applies knowledge and experience on multi-discipline engineering principles associated with complex systems, working

with others departments to mitigate risks and find solutions that meet specific planning requirements, and business and
- strategic objectives.- Leads project teams engaged in significant distribution planning or business initiatives and innovative or complex technical

projects. Provides project leadership in terms of meeting broad overall goals or objectives, project schedules and/or
- budgets.- Proactively undertakes problem identification, risk mitigation, and the development of original solutions to complex or

emerging planning or technical issues, considering value, benefit and risk to BC Hydro.- Leads the development of business objectives and performance measurements, and assists in managing the technical

and operational performance to meet these objectives.- Fosters collaboration and knowledge transfer, coaching and mentoring, and organizational awareness both within

planning teams and across BC Hydro.- Builds influential relationships with key management teams and departments across BC Hydro, along with technical and

process groups.- Leads, provides expert input, and represents Distribution Planning, Integrated Planning or BC Hydro in the public

consultation and regulatory process.- Leads, develops, maintains and strengthens relations with external communities, municipalities, consultants, technical

societies and associations, industry interest groups, other utilities, and suppliers.

**What you bring**
- A recognized Electrical Engineering degree and registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with

Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive electrical engineering experience focused in the area of planning, engineering and

design of distribution systems, system analysis, and recognized expertise for electric utility.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and implement distribution system planning and asset management initiatives
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills including the ability to conduct negotiations, make

presentations to technical and non-technical audiences, write technical papers and reports, and liaise with peers and
experts in BC Hydro and externally.
- Demonstrated leadership on various external technical committees, presentations at conferences, and provides expert

advice and information at public forums and legal and regulatory hearings.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, team building and project management skills, including cost control and project

administration.
