**Role Responsibilities**:

- Reporting to the Manager, Conservation and Biodiversity, the incumbent works to support and advance development of Alberta's Nature Strategy and related policy development, with an emphasis on project management activities, solution generation, and support to public, stakeholder and Indigenous engagement to ensure successful implementation of project outcomes.
- This position gathers and organizes information, supports efficient management of projects and programs and informs the development of nature and conservation-related policy. The incumbent will support the Manager and the Biodiversity and Conservation policy leads to articulate policy outcomes and key actions that address conservation and biodiversity while also enabling economic development, incorporation of Indigenous rights and traditional activities, municipal growth plans, and recreational activities.
- Conduct comprehensive research and synthesize information to advance the project outcomes and support policy development.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across government to support and inform policy development.
- Work collaboratively with with Indigenous communities and organizations, environmental non-government organizations (ENGO’s), and stakeholders to plan engagement activities.
- Build an understanding of government-wide activities related the role of nature in supporting environmental, social, and economic resilience.
- Identify emerging trends, issues, and opportunities relating to biodiversity conservation and biodiversity policy development.
- Articulate (in written, verbal, and presentation form) and tailor messages to diverse audiences, develop reports, and provide support to the policy leads.
- Maintain an organized approach to planning, prioritizing, and coordinating assigned projects and overall workload.

**Qualifications**:

- University degree in a related field (natural resource management, environmental science, environmental or land-use planning, public policy and administration, political science, economics, etc.) OR a 2 year diploma in related field supplemented with a minimum of 2 years progressively related experience.
- Equivalencies will be considered.
- **Equivalency**:Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year education.

**Assets**:

- Strong cultural awareness and ability to effectively engage with Indigenous communities and organizations on natural resource and environmental management.
- Experience working in settings with engagement, facilitation, negotiation, conflict resolution, and consensus-building.
