Reporting to the Director of Facilities and Construction Management, this position is responsible for the oversight, development and delivery of energy policies and programs related to energy (utility) use, conservation and efficiency in town-owned buildings to meet corporate goals, targets, and budgets, and provincial regulatory requirements. The Energy Solutions Manager champions, leads and is responsible for improving the corporate culture of energy conservation including staff capacity building, achieving reductions, efficiencies and cost savings through influence and collaboration, and also for implementation, monitoring and updating the town’s Corporate Energy Conservation and Demand Management (CDM) Plan.

As the Energy Solutions Manager, your job responsibilities will include:
***Manage Energy**:

- Develop, lead, influence and implement town’s CDM Plan to support strategic directions, goals, Council
- approved targets, planning initiatives, business case preparation, needs assessments and improved client and customer responsiveness.
- Working as a key stakeholder, i mplement the town’s Corporate Energy Policy. Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and town facility action plans working with key departments to achieve conservation, efficiencies, program needs and client/customer satisfaction.
- Monitor, review and influence implementation of operational and capital energy conservation and efficiency projects including activities from planning, budgeting, design, scheduling, implementation and analysis / verification / validation of results (energy savings, cost avoidance, efficiencies) and actions for continuous improvements.
- Influence and Train Staff, Educate Clients, Communicate and Engage
- Provide leadership, influence and direction to internal staff, external consultants and contractors on energy management, conservation culture and outreach/education initiatives through programs designed for behaviour change and business process improvements.
- Participate in IESO workshops, seminars and/or training program as required to comply with IESO Embedded Energy Manager agreement.
- Liaise with appropriate staff regarding greenhouse gas emissions calculation related to achieving corporate GHGe targets and regulatory reporting.

**Data Management and Reporting**:

- Lead, implement and administer the town’s energy data management system, including utility bill upload, utility account and invoice auditing and reconciliation.
- Develop, research and implement a monitoring, tracking, analysis, verification and reporting program on energy consumption to optimize electrical/gas equipment performance and facility energy use, conservation and efficiency for facility staff and senior management.
- Report to Council on implementation of town’s CDM Plan and progress towards Council-approved energy and greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.
- Ensure reporting compliance with IESO Embedded Energy Manager agreement and ongoing program quality.

**Budget/Fund**:

- Assist Financial Planning and building operating departments to prepare annual operating budget forecasts for energy consumption and costs considering impacts to client programs.
- Develop, research and recommend prioritized operational and facility energy management improvements including potential staff organization and function, needed resources and definition of expected cost avoidance, savings and other benefits.
- Provide leadership and influence on capital and life cycle budgeting for energy improvements.
- Research and co-ordinate grant and incentives programs to ensure funding opportunities are identified and realized.

**Continuous Improvement**:

- Ensure town’s CDM Plan is regularly updated to ‘best in class’ status and established corporate energy use reduction target is achieved along with regulatory compliance.
- Provide leadership and influence on continuous improvement processes. Identify and prioritize improvement opportunities. Monitor and report on effectiveness and outcomes in terms of energy cost avoidance, savings and GHGe reductions.
