We are currently seeking to fill the regular full-time **Payroll Specialist **role located in St-Laurent, Qc.

**Responsibilities**:
The Payroll Specialist works closely with the Finance Team and reports directly to the HR Director, performing all activities necessary to process payroll administration, including (without limitation):

- Weekly/bi-monthly payroll payments and other payments (bonuses, commissions ) on a multi-company and multi-province base (approx. 200 employees) through ADP WorkforceNow
- The maintaining of related employee records
- Preparation and filing of all statutory tax and other governmental bodies (T4, Relevé1, CNESST, WSIB, WCB ) reports
- Calculations of all applicable deductions (group benefits, garnishments, RRSP contributions )
- Documenting and updating payroll procedures
- Preparation of various reports for accounting and Management
- Prepare payroll accounting journal entries (each pay period)
- Reconcile payroll journals (ADP system) with GL related accounts (each pay period) & perform conformity control review with applicable reconciliation schedules (for statutory DAS)
- Maintains and ensures accuracy of the payroll database and processes all necessary updates/corrections (i.e new hires / terminations / salary changes / banking details, address change, group insurance deductions, etc...)
- Validation of hours worked (hourly employees only), including calculation of applicable overtime for authorization
- Calculate and process, when required, any amounts ordered to be withheld from employee’s payroll through a garnishment, third party demand or family support deduction order
- Maintain time & attendance tracking reports (daily & weekly for the applicable companies of the Group)
- Maintain and process accurate calculation of all employee benefits (sick days, vacation, group insurance, statutory holidays, bonuses, etc ) and related banked benefits as per Company policies
- Preparation and validation of yearly deductible training expenses (for Quebec companies only - under the Revenue Quebec “Contribution to the Workforce Skills Development Recognition Fund”)
- Develop, formalize and maintain all payroll company policies and procedures
- Stay current with applicable payroll regulations and labour standards and be willing to follow authorized training by immediate supervisor
- Sales commission benefits calculation and reconciliation (quarterly for all applicable companies of the Group)
- Group Benefits administration, including enrolments, changes, and terminations
- Other various accounting duties including but not limited to reports updates and petty cash maintenance

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Diploma of secondary education (or higher)
- Minimum 1-2 years of work experience in a payroll position
- Experience with ADP’s WorkforceNow system
- Experience in payroll administration in Quebec a must, Ontario and British Columbia an asset
- Certification as Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) credential from CPA, an asset
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems procedures and policies
- Person highly responsible, meticulous with excellent attention to details
- Ability to deal with change in a fast paced environment and adaptable to meet stringent deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise adequate discretion over confidential information
- Able to work independently
- Ability to handle and properly prioritize multiple tasks
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Able to deal with people tactfully, diplomatically and professionally at all times
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
