Who we are looking for:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Site Lead to oversee our local wind operations team in the Greater Sudbury area. The Site Lead will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the wind farm, optimizing performance, and maintaining compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise in wind energy, and a passion for driving operational excellence.
Day to Day responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day operations of the wind site, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Work with the leadership team to execute contractual obligations per customer requirements and activities set forth with daily, which include any portion of the electrical and mechanical equipment used in the wind turbine generator.
- Oversee maintenance activities, including troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance to minimize repeat downtime and maximize turbine availability.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve operational performance and reduce costs.
- Manage and mentor site team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure a high-performing team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and project management, to support project goals and objectives.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors to support site operations and maintenance activities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
- Scheduled On Call Support.
Qualifications:
- College certification in Renewable Energy, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field..
- Minimum of 5-10 years of experience as a Senior Technician or similar role, with demonstrated trouble shooting and leadership experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of wind turbine systems and components.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing teams in a dynamic environment.
- Proven track record of achieving operational excellence and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Solid understanding of safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements related to wind energy operations.
- Ability to travel to various site locations as needed.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Knowledge of CMMS systems for parts and project tracking
- Must live within 45 minutes of site location.
- Must be able to climb 100m (300ft) multiple times per day.
