We are seeking a Site Shift Manager for NOVA Chemicals Manufacturing West (MW) Joffre Site located in Central Alberta, near Red Deer. In this role you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment with the opportunity to influence and positively impact the organization. Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing West Production, this position provides 24/7 leadership ensuring integration of manufacturing capability to meet or exceed safe, reliable and competitive operational targets.

**You Will Use Your Expertise In**:
**Responsible Care®**:
Provide Responsible Care® (RC) leadership on-shift, ensuring shift teams comply with the site RC standards, procedures and programs to achieve site RC targets and adherence to Life Saving Rules.
Use Leader Standard Work (LSW) and Go-See assurance checks to ensure high standards of performance in the areas of RC, Safe Work Permitting, Safety Interaction and Risk Assessments.
Provide Emergency Response Leadership acting as Incident Commander when necessary.
Ensure quality emergency preparedness drills and plans are completed in accordance with site Emergency Response standards.
Ensure appropriate response and implementation of MW emergency procedures.
Ensure effective and timely use of Responsible Care® Learning System (RCLS) processes.
Ensure site Operations Continuous Improvement and Management of Change processes are followed, including periodic assurance that processes are functioning as intended and aligned across Joffre Site operating units.
Promote safety / environmental awareness that continuously improves performance.

**Leadership**:
Create a shift team culture in full alignment with the principles of NOVA’s Nature in areas such as effective interpersonal working relationships, demonstrated collaboration and the support and sharing of information around successes and problems for the benefit of region-wide continuous learning.
Act on behalf of Site Leadership and is the Production Unit Leader delegate during backshifts.
Provide leadership support for Emergency Response activities.
Ensure effective communication to stakeholders that includes plant business information, capability gaps, contingency plans and short-term S&OP impacts.
Provide coaching and mentoring to support quality shift starters that highlight RC risks and production commitment risks and clear actions to mitigate.
Facilitate a standard site meeting that highlights RC performance, production performance, integration items, risks and actions to mitigate (STORM/EOS meetings).
Promote a culture of accountability.
Ensure alignment and consistency across Manufacturing West region.
Provide coaching and mentorship to Shift Supervisors.
Short term prioritization of site resources with production targets in mind.

**Operational Excellence**:
Own decision making on cross boundary operational priorities for the shift.
Collaborate with shift teams to achieve production commitments and support actions to resolve production constraints and minimize negative production impacts.
Collaborate with Site Shift Supervision to identify and escalate threats/vulnerabilities/risks to asset reliability and develop mitigations (Find small Fix small).
Support annual business plan development for all assets and monitor short term S&OP plan to ensure the daily/weekly operating targets are met.
Achieve consistency in operations by establishing and communicating consistent expectations in collaboration with the Shift Leadership group.
Provide training/coaching on best practices and standards in operations.
Foster and promote continuous improvement in operations (i.e., Responsible Care®, efficiency, cost, productivity, etc.).
Support problem solving and abnormal situation management.
Share learnings and practices across MW/ME/MS to promote continuous improvement.
