Assistant Director Position

Our center is hiring an Assistant Director to join our team.
Job description
- Work together with the Operator and Program Director on ideas to improve the center
- Operate the center in a manner that meets all licencing, health and fire, and accreditation regulations
- Assist staff/rooms as needed
- Cover ratios as needed
- Assist room staff develop and implement age-appropriate program plan
- Develop positive rapport with parents and children. Communicate with parents to help resolve any potential issues.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with coworkers and the community
- Motivate and lead staff by example
- Demonstrate and coach new staff on best child care practices
- Foster a spirit of teamwork that allows staff to have respectful disagreements over ideas, provides effective conflict resolution and supports an appreciation of diversity
- Work alongside the Director and Operator to oversee staff development through on-going training, observations and evaluations
- Promote the center's positive image
- Perform other related assignments as required
**Requirements**:
- Minimum 4 years of experience as an ECE Assistant Director
- Have an Early Childhood Educator Level 3 certificate
- Knowledgeable about children’s development
- Valid Infant/Child C.P.R. and First Aid
- Knowledge of Child Care programs
- Thorough knowledge of provincial childcare regulations including all relevant legislation, policies and procedures
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and E-mail is required
- Strong morals and ethics, sound judgment and reasoning skills, along with a commitment to discretion and staff privacy
- Excellent oral and written communication skills using the English language
- High standard of professionalism
- Enthusiasm for ensuring that all children and clients are cared for equally and in accordance with centers policy
- Lead by personal example, coaching, teamwork, but not hesitant to make decisions and direct activities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to listen and respond appropriately to parents, children and staff needs, as well as communicate with tact and diplomacy
- High energy level with a strong work ethic
- Excellent organization skills to prioritize workload to achieve results in a constantly changing environment
- Ability to safeguard confidential information
- Must be capable of lifting, pulling and/or pushing up to 45 pounds
- A current Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector check will be required
- Early Childhood Administration and Supervisor experience would be an asset
