Under the direction of the Programs and Operation Manager, the Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the various occupational-based programs and services delivered in-house as well as the peer outreach services to individuals receiving services from the Canadian Mental Health Association-Sudbury/Manitoulin (CMHA) in the community and/or their residence. Working within the MHCC’s Guidelines for the Practice and Training of Peer Support and Recovery-Oriented Practice the Program Coordinator ensures the goals and objectives of both programs are met, peer support core values are upheld, and relationships with partners and funders are maintained.

**DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Provides administrative direction and coordination in Peer Support / Outreach Programs at NISA**:

- Direct and manage all programs including but not limited to: The Artists’ Loft, The Writers’ Circle, Food Is Mood, and Warm Hearts/Warm Bodies.
- Support the Peer Support/Outreach teams to provide one-to-one/group peer support, advocacy and opportunities for members to foster self-advocacy skills as well as the development of life skills opportunities and connections to other community services and resources.
- Monitor all program needs and ensure quality service.
- Participate in all daily programs as needed and ensure their smooth and efficient operation;
- Organize, assemble and maintain a monthly calendar of events for the membership and monthly activity outreach schedule.
- Recruit and support member volunteers for programs as needed.
- Connect to community resources and agencies as needed.
- Provide referral and support to consumers and families.
- Participate in fundraising activities.
- Oversee job/student placements (i.e., March of Dimes, Post Secondary Students).
- Research various grant opportunities and write grant proposals.
- Take the lead in collaboration with other staff to plan and organize NISA events i.e. Member Christmas Party, Summer Camp, Annual General Meeting.
- Organize and facilitate peer-based programs, including: WRAP programming, Wellness groups, Family initiatives and day to today workshops
- Participate, as a member of the Coordinator’s team.

**Provides direction and human resources support for Peer Support / Outreach teams**:

- Management, supervision, evaluation and mentorship of Peer Support /Outreach staff
- Team meetings; coordination of meetings with staff members including: preparing agendas and training topics, holding meeting, taking and disseminating minutes.
- Network with local and regional community services; attend workshops and conferences as well as local planning tables and committees.
- Create and deliver training on the practice of peer support, recovery and other topics as needed

**Participates in the evaluation of program goals and objectives, making recommendations on changes to current program activities for improved service delivery.**

**Ensures all file management and reporting functions are maintained in a comprehensive and timely manner**:

- Ensuring individual’s contacts are recorded appropriately and in a timely manner utilizing the B-Care database program
- Ensuring that monthly, annual and other required reporting documentation are completed
- Provided assistance to other Coordinators with community networking and additional tasks
- Participate in scheduled meetings with the Programs and Operations Manager.
- Promote NISA’s mission, vision and values to the membership and to the community.
- Represent NISA in a professional manner.

**Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the Mental Health Act and related legislation, the structure and personnel of local social agencies, government departments and trends and developments in the community that could affect the provision of mental health services.**

**Forwards the concepts of peer support practice and understands and implements a recovery-oriented philosophy in all job duties.**

**Avails self of opportunities for professional development**:

- Bringing forward training needs and takes responsibility for seeking out relevant training opportunities.
- Participates in workshops and seminars as required.
- Participates in Coordinators meetings, Membership meetings and staff meetings.
- Participates in the performance review process

**Works within the Policies and Procedures of NISA/Northern Initiative for Social Action and NISA’s Core Values of Peer Support.**
