**Overview**:
The Human Resources Coordinator-Absence Management The HR Coordinator -Absent Management will focus on the 5 day or less attendance patterns in the NNDSB and ensure that the absenteeism rates for the organization are managed effectively

**Primary responsibilities**:

- Tracking of 5 days or less absences, unless they are known to immediately become an STD, WSIB or LTD claim
- Analysis of ongoing patterns of absenteeism and identifying opportunities for improvement
- Recommendations for approval of and tracking of short term Leaves of Absences
- Tracking of vacation entitlement and usage
- Monitoring and ensuring that vacancies are filled in Easy connect.
- Works with the HR Coordinators Teaching, Non Teaching and Casual to ensure that the replacement pools of all casual and temporary employees are sufficiently staffed.
- Partners with the HR Coordinator -Casual to recruit casual and temporary employees for both pools
- Ensures that the organization’s fill rate for absences are optimized. The HR Coordinator will monitor and approve all short-term leaves (LOA)s
- Develops an effective attendance awareness program and work with Principals, Managers, and Senior Management to address concerns where an employee has high absenteeism, culpable absenteeism and/ or patterned absenteeism.
- Works with Managers, Principals and Vice Principals to address culpable absenteeism issues (failure to attend work without notifying the employer, lateness for work or leaving early and abuse of leave).
- Builds a monthly reporting process for Principals and Managers which will roll up to a summary report for the Executive Council documenting attendance rates culpable and non culpable.
- Networks with other School Boards and employers to develop and manage an effective attendance awareness program
- Develops education materials and cheat sheets with the assistance of SBCI for Managers, Supervisors, Principals and Vice Principals to support them in addressing attendance issues in their organization.
- Works with the Human Resources Coordinator - HRIS and Reporting to ensure accuracy and timeliness of data.
- Identifies and adapts best practices from other school boards and public sector organizations

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor of Arts or equivalent in Human Resources Management, or equivalent experience
- 2-3 years as an analyst or an HR Generalist role with significant experience in analytics
- Exceptional ability to gather and interpret data, and develop meaningful analytics
- Comfortable working with Excel, Word, ebase,
- Familiarity with Absence Management protocols and best practices
- Ability to collaborate, provide absence management support to a cross section of staff
- Exceptional interpersonal, conflict management and communication skills
