As a Policy Analyst, you will provide comprehensive research, analytical insights, consultation, and advisory services essential for effective policy development. You will be at the forefront of preparing a diverse range of policy and program information, crafting strategic communications, and conducting thorough issue analysis to support our policy initiatives, plans, projects, and objectives.

**What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this role you will:

- Lead and participate in researching legislation and policy frameworks in other ministries/jurisdictions.
- Conduct research and analyze various sources of information to support policy option formulation.
- Conduct policy needs analysis and coordinate research and policy development activities.
- Identify project objectives and deliverables, develop project plans, and monitor progress.
- Recommend viable options and performance standards, prepare summaries for policy and program development.
- Lead project teams, oversee project management areas, and ensure standards and timelines are met.
- Monitor project progress, analyze best practices, and ensure project effectiveness.
- Develop/review proposed policy/research options and recommend appropriate strategies.
- Prepare various documents such as option papers, briefing notes, and analytical reports to evaluate performance targets and communicate policy/program changes.

**Policy Expertise**:

- You have experience with policy and legislative processes
- You have experience with program development and implementation
- You have experience in using policy and research tools, methods and techniques

**Research, Evaluation and Analytical Skills**:

- You can contribute to the development of innovative programs, implementation plans and standards/guidelines.
- You demonstrate sound judgment, sensitivity and a high degree of political acuity
- You can assess the effectiveness of policies/programs against Ministry initiatives and goals

**Relationship Management and Facilitation Skills**:

- You have expertise in creating and managing stakeholder relationships
- You can consult and provide appropriate advice on policies, standards and programs to stakeholders

**Planning and Organizational Skills**:

- You can plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines

**Communication Skills**:

- You can respond to issues, provide recommendations and prepare reports using standard computer software
- You can create, lead and present research findings to senior management
