As a Maintenance apprentice at Steel Technologies Canada, your main responsibility is to continue to improve our safety, quality and efficiency. How? By performing routine and preventative maintenance and providing effective troubleshooting, you are a huge part in ensuring operations is running effectively at all times.

**How you’ll contribute to our company**:

- Preventative Maintenance
- Perform routine maintenance to all plant machinery
- Carry out the preventative maintenance program for the plant
- Ability to accept and control maintenance operations and communicate non-compliance problems to supervisor for instruction
- Minimize Downtime
- Constantly review the operation of plant equipment and systems
- Anticipate and solve problems in a timely manner
- Identify opportunities for improvement
- Effective Troubleshooting
- Must have knowledge and ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs through a quick and effective root cause analogy
- Ability to accurately fill out documentation on work orders
- Knowledge & Understanding
- Knowledge of motor control systems, hydraulic systems, fire protection and mechanical bearing systems
- Knowledge of equipment installation

**Here’s what is needed to be successful**:

- Ability to correctly retrieve and input data in computer using Excel and CMMS System
- Ability to successfully troubleshoot and repair industrial equipment/machinery
- Strong electrical & industrial knowledge
- Ability to operate motor control systems, hydraulic systems, fire protection and mechanical bearing systems
- Ability to comply with safety rules and requirements
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
