**Description**:
Located out of the Inter Pipeline Sherwood Park office (consideration may be given to be Calgary based), the Land Agent will report to the Land Supervisor, Transportation Business Unit.
With strong interpersonal and communication skills the Land Agent will successfully establish meaningful consultation with landowners, occupants, and other land-related stakeholders, and will be pivotal in supporting Inter Pipeline Transportation operations, new development, and maintenance activities.
The Land Agent will maintain and enhance Inter Pipeline’s ongoing social license to operate through continued development of positive working relations with landowners, occupants and interested parties directly and/or indirectly affected by the company’s pipeline assets and related infrastructure.
**Key Activities and Responsibilities**
- Facilitates the completion of required documents for all surface land matters, ensuring they are appropriate for the situation, accurate, and properly filed with the required land analyst.
- Facilitate rental reviews, lease renewals, and all other ongoing land access reviews and site inspections related to operations and/or maintenance.
- Assists in the development, review and implementation of processes and procedures aligned with and supporting the continuous improvement and compliance of surface land practices.
- Coordinate responses to landowner complaints and/or inquiries and facilitate the timely resolution of landowner concerns in a respectful manner.
- Negotiates damage settlements related to access, maintenance and/or other surface land related activities in accordance with company guidelines and industry best practices.
- Provide direction and support to land analysts in preparing field files for the acquisition or permitting of surface rights and/or other land interests necessary or convenient to pipeline operations.
- Attends open houses, town hall meetings, and/or other public gatherings to represent the company, promotes pipeline awareness and addresses issues and questions that may arise.
- Operates and maintains a company vehicle and other assigned equipment in accordance with company policy, including maintenance logs and inspections.
- Maintains a strong working knowledge and understanding of AER Directive 56, the Alberta Pipeline Act - Rules and Regulations, Public Lands Act, and other surface land pipeline related regulatory requirements.
- Adheres to the company’s core values, policies, procedures, EH&S requirements, safety targets, training requirements.
- Takes on additional tasks as assigned in support of the Transportation Land team.
**Education, Skills and Experience**:
- Licensed as an Alberta Land Agent and holds a valid Alberta Driver’s License, with this being an ongoing condition of employment
- Eligible to be appointed Commissioner For Oaths - Alberta
- Minimum 7-10 years of surface land experience, preferably in the pipeline industry
- Experience in freehold and crown land in Alberta and Saskatchewan
- Advanced computer skills in MS Office, Excel, LandRite®, and GIS
- Ability to read and understand survey documents
- Supervisory level Ground Disturbance training is an asset
**Hours**
Full time, Monday to Friday
- Approximately 50% travel throughout Central and Northern Alberta
