Grounds Project Coordinator

100% Full-time, Regular (12 Months Per Year)

Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week

**Location**: 1224 Stittsville Main Street

**Salary Range**: ESP Level 8 - $54,674 to $70,594 annually

Under the direction of the Team Manager, Maintenance Services, the Grounds Project Coordinator coordinates a variety of grounds keeping duties, including operation of vehicles associated with grounds keeping, snow plowing removal and salting, tree planting trimming and removal, grass cutting, field irrigation and fencing repairs. The Grounds Project Coordinator evaluates conditions of school grounds; supervises a turf management program as well as other grounds related projects; provides direct input in the way that snow, sweeping, grass services and other contractual work is carried out; sets up and oversees preventative maintenance schedules and assists with the tendering process; meets with School Communities with regard to School Initiated Grounds projects, and provides advice on process, structure and technical detail; ensures that grounds improvement projects meet established by-laws and landscaping practices. Communicates with city officials on various Municipal by-laws, and performs other job related duties to ensure Board properties, facilities, and equipment are properly maintained.

**Qualifications**:
Courses/training related to building/grounds maintenance, project or property management or relevant training;
5 years of grounds-keeping and/or landscaping experience, including tree and shrub care; or an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Knowledge of relevant Board policies and procedures, codes/standards, acts and regulations, new materials, groundskeeping equipment/products/methods/procedures, administrative practices and procedures, and the maintenance management system.

Familiarity with the tendering process, and knowledge of specific tools and equipment used for groundskeeping, snow removal, and grass cutting.

Interpersonal and communication skills to provide, explain, and clarify information, and be able to effectively respond to inquiries from Board personnel, school administrators and external contractors regarding the maintenance of snow and grass on Board properties.

Initiative and judgement skills for making decisions on snow, sweeping, and grass maintenance services and when inspecting conditions of Board grounds/property.

Organization and time management skills required to schedule and prioritize work and meet project deadlines.

Project management skills required to coordinate activities, oversee large multifaceted contracts/projects and ensure the completion of work projects.

Ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.

Valid Class 'G' driver's license required.
