**The bigger picture**

We’re looking for a media relations expert to cultivate and manage relationships between Conexus, the media, and other external stakeholders to ensure accurate and positive coverage of Conexus' activities and messages. As the Media Relations Specialist, you will play a key role in managing and implementing media relations strategies aimed at enhancing the visibility of Conexus and its subsidiaries, in alignment with our strategic purpose and mission. Additionally, you will lead advising key stakeholders and managing communication responses to emerging issues and operational projects. Due to the nature of this role, flexible working hours are required.

**How you’ll be spending your time**

**Proactive and Reactive Media Relations**:

- Serving as the primary contact for all media inquiries and respond with an appropriate plan to maintain Conexus' public image and reputation.
- Collaborating with the Marketing team to create and implement media strategies that promote positive awareness of Conexus and its subsidiaries.
- Drafting key messages for internal and external stakeholders, developing media pitches, creating impactful press releases and statements, and writing engaging content. This includes preparing key media spokespersons for effective communication.

**Issues Management Response**:

- Providing communications advice on risk/issue assessment for both existing and emerging issues, and recommending appropriate responses in alignment with the Conexus crisis management plans. This includes providing timely and accurate information to key internal and external stakeholders.

**Communications Delivery**:

- Providing communications advice and delivering communication plans and messaging, to employees and members, that are strategically aligned to organizational direction. This includes internal projects and operational communications.

**The experience you bring**
- 4 to 6 years of experience in a relevant or related industry.
- Post-secondary degree in a relevant or related field or combination of experience and education.
- In-depth expertise and knowledge of communication best practices in issues management, crisis communications, media relations, social media usage, and professional-level writing and editing.
- Proficiency in using social media platforms, media monitoring, analytics tools to assess coverage, and track engagement.

**Salary Range**:
$76,210 - $101,610 with 10% Short Term Incentive Target
