The Public Safety Personnel Internet-delivered Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (PSPNET) team is located at the University of Regina and part of the Canadian Institute of Public Safety Research and Treatment (CIPSRT) funded by Public Safety Canada. The PSPNET team is led by Dr. Heather Hadjistavropoulos, one of Canada’s foremost leaders on Internet-delivered Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (ICBT). The team consists of both clinicians and researchers who are developing, implementing and evaluating ICBT to help current and former public safety personnel (PSP) to improve their mental health and wellbeing.
CIPSRT is looking for a talented and experienced individual to join the PSPNET team as a
**Web and Social Media Communications Specialist**. The primary purpose and duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Provide strategic communication recommendations to leadership based on research of communication and social media trends.
- Utilize computer software programs to develop materials (print and digital) for PSPNET and CISPRT funded projects. This includes graphic design for websites, infographics, posters & other materials (print and digital), photo manipulation, illustration, audio and video recording, audio pre-production and post-production, and video pre-production and post-production.
- Develop and publish graphic and media creative concepts to help with outreach and raising awareness for PSPNET.
- Maintain CIPSRT and PSPNET branding, including the creation of brand awareness among diverse interested parties, including PSP, their leaders, their families, policy makers, and more. Work collaboratively with existing peers to establish new guidelines.
- Establish PSPNET’s product brand awareness within the PSP community. Design and execute communications and marketing plans to share knowledge with diverse interested parties, at the University of Regina, as well as nationally, using cohesive branding that reflects CIPSRT and PSNET’s national branding guidelines and University of Regina’s standards.
- Strategize and manage social media campaigns to promote delivery of PSPNET and CISPRT’s deliverables when applicable. Build and maintain an online network and relationships with PSP and interested parties by being attentive to social media posts from various groups. Establish trust by being vigilant and attentive on social media. Administer all PSPNET social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook)
- Provide visual knowledge translation including mobilization and dissemination.
- Recommend branding, marketing and communications strategies to build PSPNET’s brand, both online and through other media.
- Identify how to promote PSPNET strategically. Create advertising and select media for PSPNET and other CIPSRT projects when necessary. Create paid and organic social media campaigns and materials for the campaigns. Seek appropriate content for social media post, setup, and schedule the posts.
This position works collaboratively with various interested parties and team members to gather input and develop guidelines, and to determine effective knowledge mobilization and dissemination strategies for achieving deliverables.
Position Requirements
**Education and Experience**:
- An undergraduate degree in visual communications, graphic design, or fine arts, with knowledge of Social Media strategy and platforms;
- Minimum of 5 years working in advertising or communications. Experience working in the communications field for a research institute is preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
**Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with**:
- Demonstrated ability to provide strategic communications and marketing recommendations to leadership, to produce high quality visual communications, and to conduct effective social media campaigns.
- Visual communication, visual knowledge translation, knowledge mobilization, and knowledge dissemination. This position requires that the incumbent can explain a complex and sensitive concepts, such as emerging mental health research, by using visual and graphic representation.
- Graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier. Video editing software such as iMovie, FinalCut Pro, basic HTML. Design theory and colour theory. Understand print production methods. Understand video pre and post-production.
- Understanding advertising and marketing strategy and being able to generate those strategies. Understanding diversity and equity and handling with care.
