Job Summary

The Delivery Manager provides people and technical leadership within the Integration Enablement Centre (IEC) at UBC IT.

Organizational Status

The IEC is a unit within the UBC Information Technology department responsible for linking all systems and data at UBC to enable the University, faculty, researchers, staff, students and partners to have access to properly governed data through well-documented UBC APIs and other appropriate toolsets.

Services are delivered through the use of Information Technology best practices and customer focused processes to enable stakeholders to achieve UBC objectives.

The Delivery Manager reports to the Technical Delivery Associate Director within the Integration Enablement Centre (IEC). In addition, this role will be working with the Sr. Manager of IEC in ensuring that transition to operations activities from project to sustainment happens effectively. They will also work closely with the other managers in UBC IT and the Office of the CIO, UBC IT personnel, technology professionals across the UBC community, campus stakeholders, vendors, and external institutions.

Work Performed- Provides work direction and leadership to the IEC team members, including scheduling, assignment of work, review of project efforts and resolution of post-production issues as required to ensure overall success- Participates in long-range planning for the delivery of integration projects, and develops and maintains technology delivery roadmaps for the functional area(s).-
- Applies modern approaches to the design, development, implementation, and support of integrations at UBC.- Supports the Senior manager in onboarding new team members, monitoring Jira and ServiceNow queues and ensuring the operational and project documentation is updated- Works with business partners and/or leadership to understand ongoing issues with the delivered projects, of a major functional area with multiple lines of service.- Develops integrated strategies, operating plans, targets and measures for a major functional area and leads the day to day delivery of its services, programs and activities.- Develops and implements innovative services, business solutions, and programs, provides technical leadership and oversight on projects, and collaborates with others on integrated solutions and initiatives across other administrative/academic units.- Honour the SLA with the IEC clients by ensuring the Jira and ServiceNow tickets are assigned to appropriate team members, ensure the tickets are resolved in time, remove blockers and train the staff in areas that will help improve the quality of service delivered by IEC.- Manage the technical documentation around projects and operations. Ensure the stakeholders are identified, architecture diagrams, support pages etc. are present for each project/task delivery.- Onboard new team members by training them on the integration patterns, core IEC services, and ensuring that they have relevant access to perform their job duties.- Performs other related duties as required.

Consequence of Error/Judgement

Effective management of the Project/Solution delivery is essential for the delivery of UBC IT services to the departments and faculties. Decisions and actions taken by the Delivery Manager will have a direct impact on how efficiently and effectively UBC Applications will perform and function.

Failure to meet service level obligations for performance and availability of the Integration Enablement Center portfolio could adversely impact productivity, funding and revenue, and the University community, including the large majority of students, faculty and staff. It will also damage the reputation of UBC and UBC IT.
