Vancouver, Canada Mom2Mom Child Poverty Initiative Society Full time

**Who We Are**:Mom2Mom Child Poverty Initiative Society (Mom2Mom/M2M) improves the lives of moms and children living in poverty in Vancouver by connecting them with the community, resources, and support they need to thrive. From groceries and basic household items to extra-curricular activities for children and help during unforeseen emergencies, Mom2Mom gives moms access to a supportive community all year long. Through our network of community resources and caring volunteers, moms can build strong, meaningful relationships that reduce isolation and increase stability. We know that children who have healthy, determined, well-supported moms can grow and thrive despite poverty-related stress. When moms thrive, children thrive.

**Who We Need Now**:Essential to the success of programs at M2M is the overarching goal to foster a community that reduces isolation and stress for single moms and children living in poverty. The Community Engagement Coordinator will be active in planning and promoting community events through M2M’s Circle of Moms Program. In addition, a central goal of the coordinator will be developing community relationships with organizations, businesses, and individuals to support Mom2Mom’s work and overall fundraising efforts.

Further, women who parent below the poverty line in Canada and in BC are disproportionately Indigenous and people of colour, and that disparity is reflected in the cultural background of Mom2Mom participants. Indigenous background (status, non-status, Metis, Urban Aboriginal) and/or knowledge of, and experience with Indigenous culture(s); familiarity with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples would be strong assets.
