**ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND**

Funded by Veterans Affairs Canada, the Atlas Institute for Veterans and Families (formerly the Centre of Excellence on Post Traumatic Stress Disorders) was established in 2019 to provide better access to information, research, tools and expertise on PTSD and related mental health problems and illnesses. The goal of Atlas is to create knowledge networks with researchers, service providers, veterans and their families across Canada to increase expertise on military and Veteran mental health, suicide prevention and substance use disorders. Atlas will create new knowledge on Veteran mental health treatments that work and place it directly into the hands of mental health professionals and others working with veterans on a daily basis. Atlas will share evidence-based treatment protocols and best practices among the Veterans Affairs Canada network of Operational Stress Injury Clinics, the Canadian Forces Health Services, and with mental health professionals across the country.

**POSITION OVERVIEW**

Additionally, they will act as a first point of contact for research participants, act as liaison to all stakeholders throughout the duration of the research studies, and support internal lab activities.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Coordinate the day-to-day activities associated with Atlas-led clinical research projects, including: preparing, revising and renewing/updating study protocols and supporting documentation, and communicating with all stakeholders;
- Monitor and coordinate multiple research studies and knowledge translation activities, as well as implement strategies to ensure the ethical conduct of quality research, the achievement of expected timelines and deliverables, and the efficient use of human and practical resources;
- Assist in conducting neuropsychological behavioural and DSM-based clinical assessments;
- Troubleshoot problems at all stages of study development and implementation, with support of the research team;
- Act as liaison between the Clinical Research Team at the Atlas Institute, and research ethics and finance teams across multiple universities and research institutes nationally and internationally;
- With the support of the Director and Clinical Research Team, utilize neuroimaging (i.e., fMRI) and research lab equipment in accordance to safety standards and best practice;
- Support recruitment,, securing informed consent, screening, enrolling and follow-up with research participants according to best practices;
- Conduct and report on the results of literature reviews to support the design, development and execution of research projects;
- Prepare manuscripts for submission to and publication in scientific journals, edited collections, and for presentation at conferences, assist with responding to peer-reviewer and editorial feedback, and aid in the development of grant proposals;
- Develop/enhance and maintain a working knowledge of current research (including researchers and institutes/organizations) on PTSD and related mental health concerns, particularly about Canadian Veterans and their families;
- Support management of large research grants, including handling basic financial reporting, participant and student reimbursement, and organizing monthly expenses;
- Act as a direct point of contact for lab members, which include graduate-level students, post-docs, and research associates from multidisciplinary backgrounds;
- Organize data management plans, archive and store all research data, execute data transfer agreements between institutions, conduct regular data quality checks on collected data.
