The Manager, Learning & Development will play an instrumental role in our team’s mission to support the ongoing development of Bison’s most important asset: our people. We enable the continuous growth of our employees and leaders from their onboarding experience through their ongoing career development, focusing on core competencies, technical and leadership skill development. This ongoing learning is achieved through a blended approach which includes on-the-job, interpersonal and formal learning opportunities, in-class training, external training and e-learning.

In this role you will:

- Lead and develop a talented team to advance our ongoing investment in enabling a learning organization.
- Develop annual learning plans (e.g. Bison University courses) that are aligned with business strategies, as identified through regular needs analysis and on an ad hoc basis by business leaders and the Talent Development program.
- Design, develop, manage and support role-specific (on-the-job), L&D curriculum and programs, including project or business driven training requests.
- Lead the implementation of a Learning Management System (LMS).
- Manage the design and development of standards and processes related to e-learning & blended learning approaches for all learning and training requirements (70.20.10 model).
- Determine best metrics to evaluate and assess L&D processes and programs. Determine course of action where data suggests opportunities for continuous improvement exists.
- Keep current on trending L&D best practices, determine where it would benefit Bison to adopt certain leading practices, make recommendations and oversee adoption/implementation.
- Establish yourself as the go-to expert on all L&D matters. This will include assessment and continuous improvement of existing programs, modification of existing programs and development of new programs.
- Set vendor selection criteria, requirements and service level expectations of L&D vendors. Ensure vendors are kept current of developments within Bison that impact their ability to provide the highest quality of service.

Your skills & experience:

- 7+ years of experience in L&D in a complex and forward-thinking environment with a large employee base and multiple locations.
- Experienced in establishing and executing the learning strategy within a business.
- 3+ years of managerial experience leading an L&D team.
- Post-secondary degree in a related field. Adult education certification and CTDP are assets.
- Demonstrated mastery in adult learning and instructional design principles.
- Proven ability to develop and successfully implement programs (e.g. Leadership Development programming).
- Demonstrated experience in course curriculum design, development and execution utilizing different delivery methods (e.g. blended learning approaches including classroom & e-learning).
- Advanced knowledge and experience in the areas of utilizing technology to deliver best in class learning solutions.
- Experienced in LMS implementation.
- Advanced project management experience.
- Strong influential and customer relations skills.
- Well versed in methodologies used to measure and assess learning program effectiveness.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional presentation and communication (e.g. verbal and written) skills.
