The Internal Communications Specialist** **will play a key role on the Internal Communications team to enhance employee communications, through communicating corporate objectives and maintaining a world-class employee experience. Reporting into the Head of Internal Communications, you will develop content to inform, engage, and inspire employees, and distribute communications across our internal communication channels at D2L. By acting as a communication business partner to our internal groups, you will play a huge role in creating positive and consistent messaging for all employees.

**Major Responsibilities (How Will I Make an Impact?)**:

- Support the development and execution of the company’s internal communications strategy, ensuring key messages are effectively communicated
- Work collaboratively with other internal teams, as well as the Leadership Team, to provide employee communications support, and counsel on employee presentations, content and delivery.
- Help assess internal communications needs and efficiency (surveys, focus groups) and help foster both one-way and two-way communications.
- Actively participate and lead the planning for corporate events such as the Quarterly town hall, and all other internal-focused employee engagements
- Develop and create engaging content for D2L’s Spark (employee intranet) and several internal distribution channels, including weekly banner content and corporate and executive announcements
- Work with the Director on M&A and integration communication activities, including collaborating with external and internal communication leads, assisting with content creation and review and overall program management.
- Develop and distribute a weekly internal newsletter
- Actively participate in the brainstorming of content for external channels by identifying opportunities to leverage internal news, announcements, and initiatives to reinforce the D2L brand

**Skills and Recommended Experience**:

- University or college degree in English, Communications, Public Relations or related degree/certificate program preferred
- 3-5+ years of experience in a communications or similar role
