**Full-Time Academic Medical Oncologist**
The Department of Oncology at McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences are seeking two
exceptional Academic Medical Oncologists specializing in gastrointestinal, lung or head and neck
cancers. A special interest or expertise in developmental therapeutics (Phase 1 trials) will be considered

The Juravinski Cancer Centre (JCC) is a large academic cancer centre located adjacent to the Juravinski
Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario and serves the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant region. The Division of
Medical Oncology consists of 23 full-time medical oncologists who are engaged in clinical practice,
education and research. Members of the Division provide approximately 3,800 new systemic therapy
consultations per year. The program treats all major disease sites and is a tertiary referral centre for
sarcoma, central nervous system tumors, gynaecological oncology and bone marrow transplantation.

sites of interest include gynaecological malignancies, sarcoma and genitourinary cancers. These disease
site groups have strong clinical trials programs and are represented in respective provincial disease site
consultation service for the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre. A hospitalist program as MRP exists
for the daily management of oncology inpatients. Members of the Division of Medical Oncology are
expected to contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate educational activities within the Michael G.
DeGroote School of Medicine and the Medical Oncology Residency Training Program. The Medical
Oncology Residency Training Program is fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons
of Canada.
The JCC has a large Clinical Trials Department contributing to Phase 1 to 3 clinical trials through the
Canadian Clinical Trials Group, the Ontario Clinical Oncology Group, industry-sponsored trials and
investigator-initiated clinical trials. Academic faculty are expected to actively participate in the clinical
trials program. Multiple opportunities exist for clinical, health services and translational research. The
academic Department of Oncology is closely aligned with the Escarpment Cancer Research Institute
(ECRI), working collaboratively to provide access to clinical, translational and health services researchers.
Certificate of registration for a valid license to practice in the province of Ontario issued by the
College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
FRCP in Internal Medicine with subspecialty training in Medical Oncology, or equivalent
qualifications
Membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association, or equivalent
Additional Fellowship training would be an asset
