Ocean Wise is the world-class ocean change maker for concerned collaborators; big and small who want practical solutions with real impact so that they feel empowered and take action to protect oceans, humanity, and the world we live in.

**ABOUT ECO-ACTION ACCELERATOR**
- Through the Ocean Action Youth Accelerator program, Ocean Wise contributes to the protection of the environment by supporting Canada Service Corps (CSC) alumni-led projects that address major environmental issues including climate change, ocean plastic and pollution, and overfishing. The program will engage 90 youths from across Canada during three four-month accelerator cohorts. The specific objectives are to:_
- _ Support CSC alumni, aged 19 to 30, in effecting positive change for the environment;_
- _ Enable CSC alumni to develop new skills and transform their pre-existing service ideas into larger-scale initiatives; and_
- _ Provide participants with the knowledge and tools to ensure their service projects promote reconciliation and inclusivity._

**ROLE OVERVIEW**
- _The Eco-Action Accelerator Program Specialist is responsible for facilitating the delivery of the Eco-Action Accelerator program including synchronous and asynchronous distance-learning, peer-mentorship, and immersive multi-day workshop components. The position works directly with youths and young professionals (ages 19 to 30) while hosting peer-metnorhsip sessions, facilitating workshops, and coaching participants through the development of their service projects. The program specialist assists coordination of Eco-Action Accelerator activities and coordinates participants’ access to support and resources._
- _**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
**Program Delivery**
- Assisting with the design, development, and evaluation, coordination of the program;
- Supporting the recruitment and selection of youths and young professionals to participate in the program ensuring participants are representative of the cultural, geographic and socioeconomic diversity of Canada;
- Coordinating and facilitating the program experience for 90 youth participants (ages 19 to 30) during their 4-month Eco-Action Accelerator including: multi-day in-person workshop retreats, peer to peer mentorship activities, and synchronous and asynchronous distance-learning sessions and resources;
- Role modeling positive safety culture by adhering to and enforcing the organization’s health & safety policies, risk management plans, and code of conduct;
- Identifying and coordinating collaboration opportunities between the Eco-Action Accelerator and other Ocean Wise initiatives;
- Collaborating with communications team to identify opportunities to feature youths’ achievements and ensure youths’ projects follow Ocean Wise brand guidelines;
- Acting as a link between program participants and the other Ocean Wise departments including the other conservation initiatives, and business and support services.

**COACHING YOUTHS**:

- Providing participants with individualized coaching to set and achieve goals for their participation in the program;
- Guiding participants through design-thinking activities, developing of a theory of change, and establishing their plan for scaling up their service project;
- Facilitating peer-mentorship sessions and individualized coaching calls, and providing continual support as needed;
- Supporting the health and wellness of participants, being mindful of individual needs and arranging accommodations as necessary.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education and Experience**
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in youth engagement, experiential education, volunteer management or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Experience working with youths or young professionals required; emphasis on experience working with youths from diverse socio-economic backgrounds;
- Knowledge of best practices in entrepreneurship, design-thinking, and theory of change methodologies;
- Knowledge of social justice concepts and ocean conservation issues and solutions;
- Experience leading youths (ages 19 - 30) on overnight trips an asset;
- Experience creating and leading an environmental or social impact service project as asset.

**Technical Competencies**
- Strong coaching and facilitation skills;
- Bilingual (French and English) preferred;
- Proficiency with online learning tools and Microsoft Office products;
- Respectful and youth-centered participant management skills;
- Ability to work independently and to exercise initiative, working well under mínimal supervision;
- Must be creative, flexible, and enthusiastic;
- Active demonstration of the organization’s values and mission.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Will involve some evening, weekend, overnight and multiday overnight work both in and out of town.
- Will be delivering programs and participating in meetings across time zones.
