Squamish Nation consists of 23 villages and is comprised of descendants of the Coast Salish Aboriginal people who live in the present-day Greater Vancouver area, Gibson’s Landing, and Squamish River watershed. The Squamish Nation has occupied and governed the territory since beyond recorded history. The Squamish Nation's culture is rich and resilient. We continue to practice our customs and traditions, which are strongly interconnected with our traditional territory. As an organization, we provide support to the greater Squamish Nation Community through service. With 11 departments with individual areas of expertise, we ensure Squanish People have access to necessary programs and services.

**About The Opportunity**:
Working as an integral part of the Ta na wa Yúus ta Stitúyntsam̓ Rights and Title Department, this position reports directly to the Senior Manager, Rights and Title, the Climate Action Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Nation’s Climate Action Strategy, and supports climate-related analysis for other teams within the Rights and Title Department and wider Nation Administration. They will monitor and support the progress of other lead departments and staff in the implementation of Climate Legacy objectives. The Climate Manager is accountable for their team, including the Climate Action Specialist and Climate Action Officer. They will act with integrity and have a deep understanding of environmental and climate-related regulatory requirements. The Climate Action Manager has excellent interpersonal and analytical skills and can turn complex problems into tangible solutions and recommendations. They are organized, passionate about the community, and act as a Climate leader within the Nation.

**What You Bring**:

- Combination of education and experience.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of all relevant environmental legislation and regulatory requirements, as well as indigenous rights and title in the context of BC.
- Highly analytical, research-driven and detail oriented with the ability to compare and evaluate complex reports.
- Considerable knowledge of wildlife and habitat assessment procedures.
- Confident and competent working in the field for on-site visits and monitoring.
- Deep understanding of political, social, legal and economic issues related to project development, as well as all aspects of environmental science and technologies.
- High attention to safety with knowledge of safety issues and control measures relating to on-site work.
- Professional, adaptable communication style with strong interpersonal skills.
- High level of emotional intelligence, patience and integrity with demonstrated conflict resolution skills.
- Extremely organized with excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
- Leads by example and motivates others with demonstrated experience creating a high performing team.
- Team-oriented with a positive, approachable attitude and an ability to deliver negative information tactfully and diplomatically when needed.
- Proficient with current environmental tools and technologies.
- Holds current safety tickets including but not limited to RISC, WHIMIS, Ground Disturbance, etc.
- Can lift up to 50lbs and is physically able to perform on site duties required for the role.

**Salary**:$ 86,776 - $ 99,335 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits program.
