POSITION OVERVIEW

Through its strategic review, BDC has set a new ambition for the impact the bank wants to have on Canada and its entrepreneurs. Central to this, is the ambition to reach more entrepreneurs by leveraging lending partnerships through community and/or non-profit organizations with the objective to provide access, loans, and services to undeserved groups.

Reporting to the Chief Strategy and Impact Officer, the Vice President of Community Banking will lead and oversee the strategic development, implementation, and management of indirect lending programs and initiatives for undeserved. They will lead a multidisciplinary team in charge of further evolving, developing, and managing lending partnerships; experimenting and implementing indirect lending initiatives such as a community banking platform including lending as a service and wrap around support; as well as defining and establishing the operational strategy of all the above.

We are looking for a visionary leader to scale our reach across undeserved groups, shaping innovative lending programs, forging impactful partnerships, and taking banking to another level.

The team will follow an agile model for execution and collaborate with key stakeholders in the organization, ensuring strong alignment and visibility across the Bank to provide a top client centric experience.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET- Develop and implement strategies that align lending partnerships with overall business goals and objectives- Conduct market research to identify opportunities for strategic lending partnerships while assessing potential risks- Manage and drive the entire existing and new lending partnerships portfolio- Implement and manage BDC’s community banking program, working closely with internal stakeholders and community focused organizations supporting underserved groups- Develop and lead the underserved partners’ lending program strategy, which includes designing, testing and operationalizing new solutions- Continue supporting and implementing on-going initiatives that aim to reach underserved communities through partners, such as the Loan Guarantee- Identify and build new partnerships with community and non-profit organizations, reaching equity deserving groups- Lead negotiations establishing mutually beneficial terms and agreements- Oversee the assessment of new partner funding opportunities and manage portfolio performance- Ensure partners performance by designing a partner journey and engagement model that includes wrap around service- Continue developing and nurturing existing relationships that have funding or risk-sharing agreements- Manage the budget and capital allocation based on risk assessment and financial analysis-
- Lead a team of seasoned professionals while coaching and managing objectives, performance and development- Stay abreast of key developments in the lending industry and use this knowledge to direct and influence

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field- A minimum of 15 years of banking experience, of which at least 10 years in a leadership role- Experience in a client relationship and business development roles- Experience leading large-scale projects from concepting to implementation- A minimum of 5 years of partner lending experience and portfolio delivery- Solid knowledge of credit principles- Experience in developing and implementing solutions working with external vendors- Demonstrated team leadership capabilities (with remote management experience) with track record of delivering results through others- Strategic thinking with sound business judgment; innovative and able to course correct as necessary- Change agent - passion to be innovative and push leaders' thinking- Proven execution track record, delivering on commitments- Excellent communication and public speaking ability- Exce
