POSITION OVERVIEW

The Vice President, Client Diversity assumes a leadership role in the COO strategic planning of the diversity program, driving its execution in collaboration with the COO leaders, the corporate Sustainability, Diversity & Partnerships department and other internal stakeholders, and in ensuring continuous monitoring of the performance vs our target.

The incumbent is responsible for developing, communicating, rallying support for and evolving an integrated and practical approach for the COO team to increase its support to diverse entrepreneurs in order to reach our 5-year ambitions.

Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, Advisory Services & Business Strategy, and, in dotted line, to the Senior Vice-President, Sustainability, Diversity & Partnerships, the incumbent will be supported by a team of regional managers responsible for the design and implementation of the regional Go-To-Market Plans with a focus on working with internal and external stakeholders as well as BDC’s Partnerships team to increase the number of diverse entrepreneurs in our portfolio. The responsibility for the business line’s DEI results is shared between the VP, Client Diversity and the regional and business line leaders.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET- Lead the strategic thinking for the COO client diversity program, including the development and deployment of the program across the different line of business and functions in an integrated and practical way with the COO strategy and operating model. Ensure that initiatives are in line with BDC’s strategy and targets.- Develop and keep up to date, in collaboration with the corporate Sustainability, Diversity & Partnerships department, a complete and relevant understanding of the challenges faced by entrepreneurs from diversity groups.- Develop and keep up to date, in collaboration with the corporate Partnerships team, a sound understanding of the ecosystem of organizations either representing or supporting entrepreneurs from diversity groups.- Drive the deployment of the diversity program by enabling the business lines and regional leaders to make meaningful progress towards our targets and DEII strategy. The VP Client Diversity is jointly responsible with the COO line leaders for the diversity results across the COO teams.- Define and oversee the governance and performance management of the COO diversity program.- Lead the internal and external visibility and communication efforts for the COO business line, in collaboration with: Sustainability, Diversity & Partnerships, Marketing, Public Relations and Corporate Communications departments, to increase our presence in the market with diversity groups relevant to the COO diversity strategy. Along with the SVP, Sustainability, Diversity & Partnerships, represent BDC as a national spokesperson for DEI in business.- Work closely with the Sustainability, Diversity & Partnerships department members and other stakeholder teams in all strategic initiatives that will impact the client diversity strategy. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR- Bachelor of Commerce or other related degree.- 10 to 15 years of relevant experience, including 5 to 7 years in business development role in the financial sector.- Understanding the challenges of systemic racism and unconscious bias, and experience in deploying diversity initiatives.- Strong interpersonal and communication skills combined with the ability to interact with and directly influence internal and external stakeholders.
