Manufacturing Production Planner

About Us:
Job Summary:
The Manufacturing Production Planner at Redoe Mold will be a key player in managing the flow of mold production from start to finish. Using our advanced ERP/MES systems, the planner ensures seamless scheduling and timely delivery of all molds, from kickoff to design, machining, mold making, finishing, tryout, and final delivery. This role requires a hands-on approach to problem solving, identifying scheduling opportunities, mitigating delays, optimizing machine utilization and ensuring that all molds meet our high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
Scheduling and Workflow Management:

- Develop and maintain a production schedule for new mold builds, engineering changes, and repairs using ERP/MES systems.
- Ensure optimal resource allocation by creating line-ups/dispatches for day, afternoon, and weekend shifts, matching production demands.
- Monitor progress and flag any delays, developing recovery plans to bring jobs back on track.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to adjust the schedule as necessary, ensuring timely execution of changes.
- Coordinate occasional outsourcing activities, ensuring that external vendors deliver components on time and to quality standards

Cross-Department Coordination
- Serve as the liaison between design, machining, and assembly teams to ensure the smooth flow of jobs through the shop floor.
- Attend weekly Tool Progress meetings, job kickoff, and design reviews to ensure production needs align with project goals.
- Communicate directly with machine operators to monitor and confirm job statuses, addressing any deviations from the planned schedule.
- Collaborate with Program Managers to ensure molds move efficiently through each phase of production, supporting their end-to-end management of tooling programs.

Operational Efficiency:

- Maximize machine utilization by strategically scheduling attended and unattended machining, ensuring long-run programs are executed after hours or during downtime.
- Utilize InFocus and Keybrite systems to monitor machine run times and continuously improve operational efficiency.
- Participate in continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to drive enhancements in scheduling, machine utilization, and production output.

Resource Allocation & Workforce Management:

- Schedule shifts and overtime to meet production needs while maintaining employee well-being.
- Manage timekeeping and employee attendance through our time & attendance software, ensuring accurate job bookings and maximizing unattended machining times.
- Motivate the team to ensure high levels of productivity, quality, and morale.

Reporting Structure:

- Report directly to the Plant Manager

KPIs: (Illustrative)
- On-Time Delivery: Achieve 100% on-time delivery of molds to the customer.
- Machine Utilization: Attain machine utilization targets for both attended and unattended machining.
- Job Tracking Accuracy: Maintain accurate daily tracking of job statuses and production progress.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to CI initiatives that drive improvements in efficiency, cost reduction, and quality.

Qualifications:

- Experience: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in mold making or related manufacturing environments.
- Education: Ontario Secondary School Diploma required; Mold Making Certificate preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in ERP/MES systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and machine monitoring software (InFocus).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong ability to collaborate with various departments.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrated ability be hands-on and solve production-related issues
