**About the faculty/service**: Facilities

**Position purpose**:
Responsible for creating and managing the equipment and furniture inventory designated as surplus on campus as required under Policy 65. Works with the planning and operations groups in Facilities, as well as the Facilities Managers around campus, to ensure that surplus is being utilized or sold to recover costs. Provides inventory management, coordinates transportation, and manages databases of surplus in Facilities, as well as aggregating other databases from around the campus.

**In this role, your responsibilities will include**:
**Planning**: Assess the condition of furniture and equipment to determine if it complies with university safety and space standards as required by Policy 38. Works with the Facilities Planning and Construction departments to supply surplus for new construction projects, retrofits, and building fit ups. Works with Faculties and Services to supply them with surplus as required.

**Inventory management**: Assists in the creation the University of Ottawa’s equipment and furniture inventory and manages the University of Ottawa’s surplus inventory (online and physical) including the management of storage locations on or off campus.

**Records management and documentation**: Coordinates and documents the distribution of surplus to staff and students in accordance with Policy 65. Creates reports on the circularity of surplus on campus for the University of Ottawa’s waste reduction goals.

**Budget management**: Manages budgets related to cost recovery and revenue generated from surplus. Reports regularly on the diversion of surplus from landfill, and the cost savings of surplus for the University.

**What you will bring**:
Knowledge of administration and logistics normally acquired through a postsecondary degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience

Minimum 3 years of experience with inventory management.

Experience working in a warehouse setting.

Understanding of Archibus software or other inventory management software.

Strong analytical and organizational skills.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills

Ability to work in a team environment.

Bilingualism (spoken and written).

Must have an understanding of waste management principles, including waste diversion and circular economy principles.
