About The West End Seniors’ Network (WESN)

WESN is a registered not-for-profit organization with over 850 member with a mission

to enhance the quality of life of older adults in Vancouver’s West End by providing

social, recreational, educational, and supportive programs and services that foster

connection and inclusion in the broader community.

Job Purpose

The Community Services Coordinator is responsible for assisting the delivery of Better

at Home services within the Community Services portfolio for over 200 older adult

clients. They will collaborate actively as a member of the Community Services team to

implement, track, evaluate, and revise services that support seniors in the West End

community to age well at home. The Community Services Coordinator reports to the

Manager of Community Services.

**Responsibilities**:
Program Coordination
- Oversee the day-to-day delivery of the Grocery, Friendly Visiting, Check-in

Errands & Tasks programs
- Coordinate and be on-site for the weekly grocery shopping with volunteers

at IGA Wednesday morning
- Receive referrals, screen clients, conduct intake appointments and home

visits, and maintain regular contact with clients
- Collaborate with other senior serving organizations offering similar

programs

Data Collection and Reporting
- Track service, client and volunteer information and statistics, and maintain

appropriate records for funders and WESN

Volunteers
- Supervise, support, train and schedule volunteers as required

volunteers
- Provide ongoing support, supervision, resources and guidance to

volunteers

General Support
- Support other WESN program and service activities and events as

required

**Qualifications**:

- Post secondary education in the area of Gerontology, social work, or other related field
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with older adults with a range of physical and

cognitive abilities
- Experience in the community-based not-for-profit sector is an asset
- Experience working with volunteers is an asset
- Ability to speak an additional language is an asset
- First Aid, CPR and AED training is an asset
- Class 5 drivers license and FOODSAFE Level 1 certification are assets

Reports To: Manager of Community Services

Starting Salary: $23/hour

Hours: 28 hours per week

Location: Barclay Manor, 1447 Barclay St.

Other: Satisfactory completion of a Criminal Record Check
