**Main Purpose of the role**:
Leading the Human Resources function for the entire country of Canada, this role is a business leader role responsible for functional strategy and tactics affecting all Canada based ZIM employees. The main areas of responsibility of the role are design, execution, and administration of all Human Resource policies, procedures, and programs affecting all Canada employees, working closely with the President of ZIM Canada and Regional HR team on focus areas including, but not limited to talent acquisition, employee experience, leadership development, employee continuous learning, total rewards, payroll, and labor relations. As a senior leader in the company, to provide vision, leadership, planning, project coordination and execution in a cost-conscious manner to meet current and future business needs.

**HR Strategy & Policy**
- Develop and drive HR strategy, priorities, and actions.
- Provide advice and recommendations to senior leadership and other levels of management, regarding HR matters.
- Coach, mentor, and develop business leaders by providing professional insights and solutions to address staff and business issues.
- Review and implement HR policies & procedures.

**Talent Acquisition**
- Based on business needs, devise recruitment strategy and channel to fill all openings within needed time frame.
- Lead recruitment process and drive continuous improvement.
- Assist with headcount requirement evaluations and job scoping.

**Total Rewards**
- Prepare the annual labor budget in accordance with business strategy.
- Lead the annual performance and salary review processes.
- Partner with regional HR team on salary benchmarking process; review benefits package to ensure market competitiveness.
- Develop and administer performance, retention, and other local recognition and incentive programs.

**Reporting & Insights**
- Reporting for various HR KPIs and metrics such as employee experience, attrition, and exit interview data compilation, to help improve existing processes and support decision making.
- Responsible for preparing monthly headcount reports and HR scorecard for senior management.
- Assist with ad hoc reports as needed, including monthly costs associated with specific employee cost centers.

- Build leadership pipeline to prepare for future business needs.
- Identify the training needs and address through internal or external resources.

- Continuously identify opportunities to improve, automate and streamline processes.
- Partner with others in HR function on local, national, or global projects or initiatives.

**Requirements**:

- University Degree in a business or HR related fields. Master’s degree in HR related field preferred.
- Certification: CRHA or CHRP preferred.
- 7+ years’ experience in various HR management positions; 2+ years in a senior HR Management position in a global company with matrix management.
- Strong background in HRIS (preferably ADP and/or SAP HCM), labor relations, payroll, benefits & compensation management, and organizational change & development.
- Experience of managing payroll and ensuring payroll compliance both from a legal and global compliance perspective.
- HR experience in the container shipping industry preferred.
- Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Customer service approach (internal & external).
- Quality oriented, proactive, and team player.
- Great communication and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work with others globally; can drive results partnering with those of a different cultural and business background.
