JOB SUMMARY:
The individual must be flexible to meet the changing needs of a healthcare environment with a focus on innovation, project management, continuous improvement and developing mutually meaningful collaborative relationships.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Program:

- Collaborate with the VRT to plan, organize and evaluate the entire volunteer program/volunteer engagement cycle activities
- Responsible for the intake, placements, scheduling and role training new volunteers and ongoing relationship building with all affiliated at the Oshawa and Whitby sites
- Work effectively with a wide range of internal and external constituencies in a diverse community.
- Guide, motivate and coach volunteers and work collaboratively with site contacts (from departments requesting volunteers) to ensure successful role development, including training and supervision in all placements.
- Coach site contacts to initiate corrective and follow up action as necessary with volunteers whose work does not coincide with the department/hospital's vision and values.
- Establish systems which support, empower and recognize volunteers
- Assists in the monitoring of volunteer performance including ongoing observation and/or formal evaluation process.
- Foster positive and supportive relations between all teams and volunteers.
- Build inclusive and meaningful relationships to connect and actively engage with the diverse community we want to recruit from.
- Helps to promote respect, care and concern for racialized volunteers and the challenges that they may experience.
- Ensure that volunteer role descriptions and training are reflective of both the department's and program area's goals for all placements
- Represent the volunteer's perspective, including the Auxiliary as a partner, internally to the hospital
- Focus on and develop community relationships to promote volunteerism both internal and external to the hospital.

Administrative:

- Identify quality indicators and participate in initiatives to achieve continued volunteer satisfaction
- Assist in the development of departmental policies and procedures
- Assist in the development of topics and tools which can be used in training and informing volunteers
- Utilize program database for record keeping and reporting
- Contribute to LH's vision, mission and strategic direction
- Remain committed to continuous learning and professional development especially within the voluntary/not-for-profit fields
- Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Degree/diploma in a health related field or equivalent; Certification in Volunteer Management is required
- Membership in PAVRO desirable
- 3-5 years related experience in volunteer engagement, within a healthcare environment is an asset with proven project management experience in role development and implementation
- Proven experience engaging with volunteers in program solving and program development and/or improvements
- Superior communication skills (verbal and written)
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Experienced change advocate skilled at role development and inspiring and motivating others
- demonstrate strategies to ensure the true inclusion and belonging of volunteers from equity-deserving population groups.
- Strong commitment to being a team-player, in a department that supports multiple hospital sites
- Excellent project planning, organizing, priority setting and time management skills
- Proven ability to resolve conflict and problem solve
- Able to follow through on requests and assignments while also seeking opportunities to identify changes and improvements to enhance the program
- Ability to maintain pleasant and professional manner with all stakeholders while dealing with multiple and competing work priorities and deadlines
- Proficient in MS Office required; experience with volunteer management software an asset
- Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.
- Must have satisfactory performance record;

- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-services in this area; and;
