Human Resources Assistant, 8-Week Contract
Through the Canada Summer Jobs Program, we are seeking one youth to work as a full-time Human Resources Assistant for an 8-week contract. The HR Assistant will work closely with our Compensation and HRIS specialist, Learning & Development Coordinator, and HR Coordinator. They will maintain training records in the system, provide support and orientation on the HRIS program by running employee reports and analyzing data. The HR Assistant will work within the learning management system to assist in the development and implementation of courses, system features, and facilitate communications and training sessions on various topics such as Mental Health & Wellness Support, Health & Safety Initiatives, and Diversity, Inclusion & Equity. The HR Assistant will participate in departmental and cross-departmental meetings to understand employee learning needs. This position offers exposure to the non-union side of a unionized environment to gain knowledge of HR best practices, learning and development strategies, and more.
Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment (international students are not eligible participants).
Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
Durham Children’s Aid Society has been supporting families and protecting children in our community since 1905. We are responsible for providing child protection services to children and youth under the age of 18, and their families, who live in Durham Region.
We work with families and our community partners to help children grow up safe and healthy. In most instances, we are able to keep children safe in their family home by working with their primary caregivers to address any challenges they may be facing.
