Reporting to the Director, Clinical and Experiential Learning (CEL), the Field Placement Coordinator is responsible for developing, promoting, coordinating, implementing and maintaining student practicum (Internship) sites in consultation with the program coordinator. The incumbent primarily supports all site supervisor relationships for the Honours Bachelor of Community Safety program. The incumbent supports all eligible students in obtaining an internship by the start of the relevant term. The incumbent participates in reviewing and revising School of Public Safety specific and CEL general processes.

What You’ll be Doing

Arranging and coordinating internship sites for the Honours Bachelor of Community Safety program for all relevant cohorts; determining and managing lists of students scheduled for placement;
Seeking out new community partner relationships, developing and maintaining the partnerships;
Supporting and advising students and internship supervisors when issues arise during placement;
Managing the relevant School of Public Safety student database(s) through Sheridan Works;
Consulting with the relevant School of Public Safety program coordinator regarding internship scheduling issues and needs;
Reassessing internship sites on a routine basis;
Determining internship locations based on students’ needs and availability of sites;
Providing internship supervisors with support, regular information and feedback regarding program changes and expectations;
Compiling, reviewing and distributing internship materials to students, internship sites and faculty, support staff and program coordinators;
Conducting site visits as needed;
Educating and informing students, placement supervisors, Sheridan faculty and program coordinators about the School of Public Safety program internship model, policies, procedures and requirements of the College and internship site;
Attending Clinical and Experiential Learning team meetings and faculty meetings when required;
Engaging as an active member of the Clinical and Experiential Learning team including development of new/revised processes and infrastructure;
Conducting pre-internship meetings, presentations/workshops with students to educate them about the internship requirements, policies and procedures needed to secure an internship;
Support/facilitate the Internship Preparation course

Establishing and maintaining administrative policies, procedures and documentation requirements for internship related issues;
Responding to student and partner inquiries about internship requirements;
Providing a link with program faculty and Professional Advisory Council members to ensure consistency between program curriculum and the internship;
Performing other related duties as assigned.

About You

You have the skills and knowledge to work with an increasingly diverse student and staff population as well as a proven commitment to anti-oppression, equity, and inclusion.

You enjoy balancing many different tasks, staying organized and planning and have the ability to integrate multiple streams of information, be flexible in delivery methods, prioritize and track multiple projects to meet a demanding workload and keep things running smoothly.

You exercise sound judgement and your sharp problem solving and conflict resolution skills, along with your ability to invite new ways of thinking, allow you to solve challenges in a creative way to help advance organizational goals.

You have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to present to diverse audiences and communities.

Possess a degree in the Social Sciences and/or has relevant experience in supporting or working with Community agencies.

Minimum of two years of experience working in public/community services, using marketing and public relations skills and techniques.

Demonstrated ability to use mediation and conflict resolution skills is required.

Experience in an educational role supporting and guiding students/adult learners is considered an asset.

**Campus Location**: Davis (may be assigned activities at any Sheridan campus). This position is currently working hybrid.

**Employee Group**: Part-Time Support - Regular

**Hourly Rate**: $28.45 + 4% in lieu of benefits and vacation.

**Hours/Week**: 24 hours

**Hours**: Monday - Thursday; 10:00am - 4:00pm (schedule to be confirmed upon hire).
