The Communications team is responsible for telling the LHSC story to the community, partners and stakeholders. It does this through both proactive and reactive media relations, issues and crisis management, digital storytelling, social media strategies, overall management of the corporate website, and internal communications. The department is also the steward of the LHSC brand and its reputation locally, nationally and internationally.

**Job Summary**:
**What the Role is**

Reporting to the Executive Director, Communications, the Manager, Editorial Strategy & Media Relations is responsible for the planning and execution of the editorial and media relations strategies. This media-savvy individual is responsible for recommending smart strategies to senior leadership on proactive and reactive storytelling opportunities. The Manager directs, controls and evaluates the delivery of our team’s strategic communications skills. They are responsible for making things happen by translating decisions of the program leadership into action, using relationship management and working with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the necessary outcomes. The Manager ensures their team and department operations are aligned with our mission, vision and values, while working together to successfully achieve our strategic objectives.

This role is accountable for day-to-day department activities, including the management of human and material resources, day-to-day staffing and scheduling, development and support of a healthy workplace, risk and utilization measurements, and facilitation of improvement initiatives and change management, while operating within approved operational budgets and financial guidelines and controls. A major focus of the role is fostering effective working relationships and networks within the team/unit and with other teams across the organization.

NOTE: this role is required to be on-call on weekends to support the team; it does so on a rotational basis with peer managers.
