The Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services has significant oversight and involvement in the public security and emergency services through its various divisions and operations. The department is responsible for the administration of law enforcement, correctional services, policing and police oversight and public safety. The Ministry supports crime prevention and restorative justice programs, as well as programs and services to support victims of crime, including those affected by domestic violence and human trafficking. The Ministry also coordinates large scale emergency and disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery programs and initiatives.

Nestled in a residential community overlooking the North Saskatchewan river, the Training Academy (TA) trains in excess of 300 Peace Officers annually. The TA promotes excellence through training by establishing training standards and, in partnership with stakeholders, facilitating the delivery of evidence-based curriculum. In this role, you will have an opportunity to contribute to the safety and security of Albertans.

Reporting to the Director Business Services, the Branch Administrator is responsible for all budgeting and financial functions, as well as working collaboratively to support administrative, operational, and day-to-day functions for the management team and branch. This position will also supervise one administrative position.

To be successful in this role, you will bring a high level of initiative, independence, adaptability, maturity, and sensitivity when dealing with confidential material.
- Your keen eye for detail is paramount when completing all budgeting and financial activities such as monthly forecasts, invoice payments, tracking and reconciling expenses and salaries, running financial reports, etc.
- Your 1GX technical skills will aid in performing SCM activities such as PRs, POs, and contract administration as well as championing the effective utilization of 1GX.
- Your coordination, tracking and planning skills will allow you to manage common HR processes within the branch (as the 1GX Workplace Administrator (WPA)) including FTE and position management.
- Your people and collaboration skills will enable you to work with managers and supervisors in the coordination of onboarding/offboarding activities.
- Your systematic reasoning will enable you to provide advice in relation to the development or improvement of financial, SCM, HR and branch administration procedures.
- Your leadership abilities will enable you to guide, support and supervise your staff.
- Your business acumen will allow you to effectively support the executive director in areas such as meeting cadences and minutes and coordinating action requests/briefings.
- Your troubleshooting skills will enable you to solve issues as they arise.
- Your organizational and time management skills will contribute to effectively managing high volumes and deadlines with competing priorities.
