Parking Services Full Time Parking Control Officer/Shift Lead. Reporting to the Manager they will help support day-to-day operation of parking facilities at McMaster University. They will perform individual duties and provide direction and guidance to full time and part time staff. Ongoing rotational shift during regular work week and occasional weekends as required for operational needs.

MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Support multiple parking facilities at various on campus and off-site locations. Provide Direction to staff for day-to-day operations, schedules, and assignments. Operate parking systems, provide access control to parking lots, control on campus traffic and parking enforcement. As well, allocate staff assignments and activities. Deliver customer service, in a respectful, professional, and polite manner when responding to inquiries from from operational staff, campus community and visitors and which are aligned to department policies, procedures, and parking regulations. They will demonstrate the core values of teamwork, accountability, integrity, respect, and trust.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Communicate with colleagues, students, campus partners and external community in a respectful, polite, and professional manner.
- Ability to handle fast-paced working conditions.
- Provide support and instructions to operational staff for assigned tasks connected to day-to-day operations.
- Coordinate activities associated to events, projects or maintenance work connected to parking
- Provide various administrative support functions related to campus activities, staff assignments, system issues that interfere or disrupt access control or parking.
- Trouble-shoot automation system issues that interfere or disrupt access control or parking.
- Record and track parking system issues through work orders and technical service requests.
- Collaborate with parking administration department and other parking facilities users.
- Compile inventory reports for supplies and tools used to maintain systems and equipment.
- Monitor, report, and document the condition of surface and underground parking facilities, to include but not limited to; lighting, asphalt condition, pavement marking, signage and any maintenance work and snow removal.
- Perform assigned tasks connected to day-to-day parking operations to include but not limited to, management of parking lot capacity limits, control of vehicle traffic at parking access points, give parking violations to vehicles in contravention of parking regulations, respond to intercom calls and attention to customer concerns while adhering to parking policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Communication capabilities to show patience, active listening, and ability to use positive language when dealing with customers.
- Organizational Skills to manage various systems.
- Interpersonal skills to support conflict resolution and excellent oral and written communication.
- Flexible to a changeable work environment.
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record required

Working Conditions:

- Must work assigned shifts in accordance with operational needs.
- Able to work in any indoor and/or outdoor environments.
- Uniform policy.

Physical Requirements:

- Required to stay in position and/or move for unlimited times for the duration of job assignment.
- Perform repetitive tasks that include but not limited to, answering intercom, utilizing a computer keyboard/mouse, watching monitors, writing tickets, and directing traffic.
- Lifting of equipment to include but not limited to, pylons, portable signs, boxes, gate arms.
