Hamilton, Canada Westbrook Trailers Full time

Family-owned and professionally managed, **Westbrook Trailers** is a leading manufacturer of galvanized aluminum utility trailers. We are currently seeking a **Controller** to manage the overall financial operations of the division, providing timely and accurate financial information, including financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and analysis.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- **Financial Reporting & Analysis**_
- Prepares accurate monthly financial statements for Westbrook Trailers including all supporting reconciliations and schedules;
- Leads the annual financial planning process and development of departmental budgets;
- Prepares budget-to-actual reports and variance analysis, analyzing financial results to explain variances and identify trends;
- Analyzes production costs and efficiencies, recommending changes as necessary;
- Performs sales analysis and other ad hoc reporting/analyses as required;
- Performs capital life cycle cost-benefit analysis, including replacement capital;
- Prepares forecasts and projections (P&L, cashflow, scenario planning) as required;
- **General Accounting**_
- Oversees Accounts Payable, ensuring documentation is appropriately matched, coded and approved prior to payment;
- Coordinates weekly payment run (cheques, EFTs, wire transfers, direct bill payments), ensuring payments are made in a timely and accurate manner;
- Oversees Accounts Receivable, ensuring billing accuracy and monitoring collections;
- Develops cost accounting system and standards for materials, labour, overhead, etc.;
- Acts as primary liaison with external auditors to provide information required for year end audit and follow up on required actions;
- Leads the annual budget preparation process;
- Oversees cycle counts and year end inventory counts;
- Develops and implements internal financial controls, procedures and process improvements;
- Maintains fixed asset ledger, making recommendations for impairment;
- Takes responsibility for ensuring compliance with financial regulatory requirements;
- Maintains KPI dashboards;
- Leads/contributes to special projects as required;
- Develops cost accounting system and standards for materials, labour, overhead, machine rates, etc.;
- **General Management**_
- Brings a financial perspective to Westbrook’s annual business planning process, working collaboratively with the leadership team to set strategic direction and develop and implement business initiatives to support the direction;
- Participates in leadership team meetings to address business issues;
- Leads/contributes to special projects as required;
- Provides coaching and direction to direct reports, identifying opportunities for training and development as appropriate.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- 7+ years of hands-on general accounting experience with some previous supervisory experience;
- Post secondary degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline;
- Completion of/actively working towards CPA designation.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks with an appropriate sense of urgency;
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively and cooperatively with team members, other departments and external stakeholders;
- Sound judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information;
- Strong MS Office skills with advanced proficiency in Excel.
