**About the Position**

The Survivor Engagement and Inclusion Consultant is a member of the Territorial MSHT Response Committee who utilizes their expertise in ensuring that the Territorial’s _Fight For Freedom_ Strategy and its execution is survivor-informed.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Client Support**:

- Provide outreach to victims and survivors of Human Trafficking
- Keep current with trends in fighting Human trafficking
- Understand trauma informed care when dealing with survivors
- Help develop “Survivor-Informed” programs and educational workshops
- Development of Healthy Life Skills for survivors
- Facilitate Human Trafficking awareness and the impact on Survivors within Salvation Army programs
- Understand the barriers to support for survivors
- Spread awareness of mental health issues and their impact on survivors
- Empower survivors to make safe and healthy decisions in their lives and how to reach out for support when they need it.
- Through education, dispel the myths about human trafficking (what it looks like, who is trafficked and how it is done) and the role of gender-based violence
- Help young people understand how social media is used to target, recruit and groom young people to ultimately exploit them

**Written and Verbal Communication**:

- Develop and document business requirements, process and reports as needed
- Develop and document options and recommendations to issues and problems
- Support key stakeholders in understanding the implications of options and decisions

**Reporting**:

- Create and maintain list of reports required for health and safety compliance purposes.
- Support external reporting requests as needed.

**Coordination**:

- Participate in bi-monthly Territorial MSHT Response Committee Meetings.
- Meet regularly with the Territorial MSHT Response Coordinate for check-ins and designation of tasks based upon specified need. This may include:

- Work with sub-groups on specific tasks and topics. o Review and inform resources, programming, services, policy, and initiatives - both Territorially and Divisionally.
- Assist Divisional MSHT Response Advocates on specific tasks and topics.
- Engage in training opportunities.
- In collaboration with the Territorial MSHT Response Committee and Territorial MSHT Response Coordinator, develop a survivor led advocacy board.
- Examine ways to engage survivors in Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Response efforts.
- Performs other duties as asked by Territorial MSHT Response Coordinator

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**:

- Completed survivor aftercare/recovery programming a minimum of 2 years ago.
- Holistic stability and healthiness in their continued journey for a minimum of 2 consecutive years.
- Not a current participant in any of The Salvation Army’s (or that of another agency’s) survivor aftercare/recovery programming, excluding counselling.
- Has a knowledge and understanding of what MSHT involves (all types).
- Has a knowledge and understanding of the human trafficking and slavery policies and legal framework within Canada and Bermuda.
- Is respected and experienced in MSHT Response work within their setting.

**PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES**:

- Mature individual, who is committed to the mission of the Salvation Army and is willingand able to work within the Salvation Army doctrine and theology.
- Ability to meet Salvation Army security screening requirements.
- Understands and actively supports The Salvation Army’s mission and core values.
- Able to legally work within Canada or Bermuda.
- Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Basic computer comprehension and skill and familiarity with common computer programs
- Commitment to confidentiality, safety, and protection.
