**What can I expect to do in this role?**

Reporting to the Labour Relations and Health & Safety Manager, the OHS Consultant will direct all activities related to the development and delivery of the Occupational Health & Safety Program.
- Provide guidance, awareness, and proactive leadership to ensure safe and reliable operations by acting as a change leader, educator, advocate, consultant, and mentor for the safety culture of the company.
- Continuously align health and safety plans, policies, standards and programs with legislation and best practices to mitigate financial, personal risk and public perception of the Board of Directors, staff, and patrons.
- Conduct annual review of OH&S Program policies and update policies / procedures / forms as required to reflect changes to applicable legislation, best practices, etc.
- Monitoring of health and safety developments in the industry (provincially, nationally, and inter-nationally); identification of new trends, innovations, and/or technology.
- Works closely with relevant senior leadership to coach, guide, and mentor on OHS requirements and leadership behaviors.
- Drives consistent implementation of OHS strategy, vision, programs, and initiatives across operational sectors.
- Oversee risk management, hazard assessment, task analysis, corrective actions, and monitoring effectiveness of new and existing control measures.
- Monitor needs and opportunities to improve safety management systems, education and training programs, accident prevention initiatives, industrial hygiene, engineering controls, incident investigations and injury reporting protocols.
- Ensure compliance with WSIB registration and reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety division/agency reporting requirements (e.g., critical incident reporting, etc.).
- Proactively identify, develop, and successfully implement strategic, operational, and work process’, procedures and improvement opportunities associated to benefit organization with the OH&S department in accordance with best industry practices.
- Develop, implement, and manage safety programs, policies, and procedures, in order to execute shows, exhibits and other activities that require specific safety requirements.
- Provides senior level analysis and advice to all levels of management and the Board in relation to employee safety.
- Prepare and present Board/Senior Executive reports on the overall performance of the health & safety system.
- Develop and lead the OH&S Management System.
- Provide advice, strategies and problem solving to personnel on all health and safety issues to achieve the goal of ‘no harm’.
- Coordinate training as required for updated health and safety requirements, best practices, and/or innovations.
- Review existing internal and external contractor health and safety practices and compliance with OH&S Program for legislative and up to date case law requirements.
- Oversee incident investigations to ensure that a root cause analysis results in the prevention of recurrence of same or similar events, and in program improvement.
- Participate in or lead regulatory appeals - i.e., Ministry of labour (MOL) orders, administrative penalties, and prosecutions, WSIB assessments - and in critical incident investigations where there is significant risk of loss and affecting the bottom line of the organization.
- Build positive relationships with all regulatory bodies.
