**Key Responsibilities and Tasks**:
The Controller has the experience, drive and dedication to support Schubert Packaging Automation on its growth path in Canada. This position will report directly to the COO and will be responsible for communicating with the North American and German HQs in the areas of Finance, Controlling and Reporting.
**Key Responsibilities and Tasks**:
- Manage and monitor accounting procedures and controls.
- Prepare the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results and report results to COO, North America’s CEO and Director of Finance as well as to German HQ.
- Provide accurate and timely financial reports for the German HQ.
- Control overall company expenses to ensure that annual budgets are met, and costs are controlled.
- Ensure that accounting procedures adhere to GAAP.
- Develop and manage periodic forecasts for the income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flow as well as a risk and opportunity analysis.
- Develop quarterly business review presentations for company management.
- Monitor and manage exchange rate developments and assist in defining strategies in cooperation with the German HQ.
- Champion annual budget process, including revenue, gross margin, functional operating expense and contribution margin by product line.
- Short term/long term cash flow forecasting.
- Cost accounting and variance analysis.
- CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management.
- Continuously improve controlling and accounting procedures and tools to make processes even more transparent, more efficient and easier.
- Prepare for and participate in annual outside audit process.
- Review tax issues and assist COO in dealing with company’s legal issues with the intent to minimize risk exposure.
- Manage contacts with taxation authorities.
- Manage labor relations, payroll, compensation and benefits including but not limited to all administrative tasks in the scope of staff hiring, developing or transitioning processes.
- Credit and collections: Oversee accounts receivable, aging of accounts overdue and collection procedures in line with systems procedures and internal policies.
- Processing of expense reports and timesheets for all field service and traveling employees.
- Manage leased company vehicles.
- Process bi-monthly payroll, calculate payroll taxes, submit returns and remit payments as required.
- Process retirement plan deposits.
- Manage the Accounts Payable process, ensure all invoices are coded correctly and timely paid, meet deadlines as required by the HQ and ensure all invoices are coded before end of month, assist the team with all the inquiries regarding intercompany/external accruals at month end.
- Perform other duties as required.
**Requirements**:
- University degree in business and/or finance and CPA designation.
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in Accounting and/or Finance, including experience in Controlling and AR, preferably with supervisory oversight.
- Experience in international context of high value.
- P&L experience.
- Strong analytical and financial skills and the ability to provide timely financial information.
- Experience with labor relations, HR administration and Ontario labor law regulations.
- Solid and hands-on experience with the creation and analyzation of budgets, financial and cash-flow statements.
- Cash management experience.
- Solid understanding of GAAP.
- Experienced in working with ERP/MRP systems, digital mind-set, willingness and ability to quickly adapt to new ERP systems (and to implement new systems if needed).
- QuickBooks experience.
- Experience in treasury function as banking liaison and relationship manager.
- Experience in dealing with service providers including but not limited to insurance firms, auditor and tax advisors.
- Experience in a shared service entity or subsidiary of a manufacturing corporation is strongly preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good team-player and willingness to work in a global team with the representatives of the German HQ and other Schubert subsidiaries.
