**Program Overview**

The YWCA Halifax will be operating a 16-room supported housing program for single, unaccompanied women and gender diverse people, aged 19+. The program will offer living accommodations in the form of a bachelor room, with shared common rooms, bathrooms and kitchen. Housing is anticipated to be long-term for the duration of the building’s leasing contract. As with all of the YWCA’s housing programs, the goal is to provide safe, secure and supported housing to women and gender diverse people who have experienced barriers to stable housing.

**Role of the Program Lead**

The Program Coordinator will work to develop the operational policies and procedures for this new housing program. Once designed, the Program Lead will be responsible to implement the housing program’s day-to-day operations. The Program Lead will work to ensure the safety and support for residents by coordinating the operational procedures. The lead’s role will include the oversight of a live-in support staffing model to provide programming support. The Program Lead will liaison with the facilities manager to ensure the timely reporting of repairs, maintenance and rent collection.

**Essential Duties of Position**:

- Housing program operations and staff coordination.
- Help to develop and manage relationships with residents and staff. This may include but is not limited to:

- Crisis intervention
- Eviction prevention
- Solution-focused problem solving
- Support housing operations and facilities support.
- Work with YWCA staff to coordinate supports for residents.
- Develop case management and individual support plans.
- Awareness of local community resources and agencies to assist in wrap around supports for residents in need.
- Daily monitoring of safety and risk management concerns.
- Setting staff’s daily tasks and priorities.
- Maintaining operational standards.
- Ensuring the policy and procedural guidelines are followed.

**Qualifications and Requirements**

The Program Lead will hold a degree in social work or related field such as, international development studies, sociology, child and youth studies, education, health promotion, or equivalent education and experience. They will have a minimum of three years’ experience within supportive housing programs. The Program Lead will have an understanding of feminist theoretical perspectives and intersectionality. Also, of issues such as racism/colonialism, violence against women, sexualized human trafficking, sexual health, and poverty. They will have knowledge of, and experience with community-based, trauma-informed, harm reduction practices as well as a strong commitment to ongoing learning and development in these areas and experience working in collaborative environments on complex issues involving multiple and diverse stakeholders.
