Mississauga, Canada Camp Kodiak Full time

Camp Kodiak is an integrated summer camp for children and teens, aged 6 to 18, with and without learning disabilities, ADHD, and high-functioning autism spectrum disorder. We provide an academic program, social skills program, and over 50 camp activities. Camp Kodiak is located on over 400 acres of land with approximately 2 ½ miles of waterfront in McKellar, Ontario.

**Summary**

During the Camp off-season, work in conjunction with the Camp Directors and other year-round camp staff to oversee the smooth and efficient running of the camp office in Mississauga, Ontario. Duties may extend to representing Camp Kodiak at camp fairs, job fairs and professional conferences in Canada and the US. Responsibilities will, at times, require the applicant to work both evenings and weekends. Time spent working during evenings and/or weekends during the year will be compensated with time in lieu.

During the summer, work in conjunction with the Camp Directors and Assistant Camp Directors to ensure the smooth running of Camp for both campers and staff members at our summer location in McKellar,
Ontario from mid-June until late August. Summer work hours would require the applicant to live at Camp
Kodiak, and will be significantly longer than standard work hours. At the conclusion of the summer season, there will be one week of paid vacation time.

During the summer, the applicant will be expected to work with our campers in various capacities that may include camper management, supervision and facilitating other camp activities.

At all times, the applicant will be expected to adhere to and exemplify to other staff and campers the policies, practices and procedures of Camp Kodiak, and to act as a positive role model.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Work with the Camp Directors and other year-round camp staff to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the camp office by completing administrative duties.
- Collate, input and record all forms and data submitted by parents and ensure the camp data management system is updated accurately at all times, including overseeing and managing all camper payments including those using third party funding sources.
- Communicate effectively with parents to ensure inquiries and questions are dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Co-ordinate with the Camp Directors to schedule meetings with prospective campers and their families, and provide follow-up information as directed by a Camp Director.
- Assist with the safe arrival and departure of all campers, including coordinating with airlines, bus agencies and parents to ensure accurate record keeping and information on all campers.
- When requested, attend camp fairs, conferences or job fairs to promote Camp Kodiak or recruit new staff members.
- Assist with camp programming during the summer, including the daily scheduling for campers and staff members.
- Maintain confidentiality re: campers/staff information.
- Ensure proper completion and timely submission of all reports as related to campers, the OCA, outside funding agencies and other agencies with whom Camp Kodiak works.
- Adhere to and support all camp policies, procedures and guidelines as detailed in the Camp

Policies and Procedures. Working knowledge of the OCA standards.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.

**Minimum requirements**:

- Experience working with children and youth with exceptionalities is required.
- Previous administrative experience is preferable but not required.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills.
- Previous camp experience would be an asset but is not required.
- Must be willing to relocate to McKellar for the summer camp season.
- Computer skills: working knowledge of Google Docs, Google Sheets and Microsoft Word.
- A full Ontario driver’s license.
- Willing to submit a current Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check included.
- Legally allowed to work in Canada.

**Work Location**:
September to mid-June: Mississauga, Ontario
Mid-June to end-of-August: McKellar, Ontario

**Compensation**:
Salary + benefits package (following 3 months of employment)
