**Role description**:
The General Accounting Specialist role is within the General Ledger Accounting team based in Toronto Canada and is part of the wider Arcadis Global Onshore and Accounting Finance community. This role will be part of the team responsible for standardized financial reporting, implementing, and maintaining an effective and efficient framework of operational general ledger accounting and statutory compliance with established company policies, generally accepted accounting principles, and local regulations. Working in the General Accounting team, the role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely completion of accounting close activities for all Canadian entities that ultimately drive financial information and reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis. This role includes but is not limited to Onshore treasury operational activities and cash flow reporting.

Reports to the General Accounting Specialist reports directly to the General Accounting Manager

**Role accountabilities**:
The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

- Completion of daily accounting transactions and ensuring the accuracy of input of accounting data into the financial systems
- Preparing weekly cash flow forecasts in conjunction with AP and AR positions.
- Treasury operations and reporting.
- The key player in ERP migration activities and projects.
- Performing standard journal entries and accounting for accruals, prepayments, and depreciation accounting
- Maintaining adherence to company accounting procedures
- Assistance in the preparation of statutory returns including Sale tax/VAT or equivalent where required.
- Reconciling balance sheet accounts and ensuring all discrepancies are addressed.
- Processing and reconciling intercompany transactions.
- Assisting in the preparation of statutory financial statements and other lodgements
- Maintenance of the fixed assets register (accounting and tax)
- Posting all payroll-related journals
- Ensuring all accounting documentation is accurately reported locally and to the group.
- Engaging in Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager or Arcadis.
- Support the wider Accounting team as required.

**Qualifications & Experience**:
**Required qualifications**:

- Degree or Post-Grad in Accounting/Finance with recognized professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or ACMA or equivalent)
- Oracle accounting module experience.
- Strong ERP Oracle migration experience
- Experience and knowledge of accounting standards and tax regulations
- Treasury/Cash management - multiple countries (Include Cash flow forecast + Exchange rate Hedging experience)
- Knowledge and experience in an international and multi-currency environment
- Oracle, BST, OneStream ERP systems and Excel high proficiency experience

**Preferred qualifications**
- Experience in financial accounting, statutory reporting, General Ledger and/or in a Shared Service environment
- Knowledge of General Accounting requirements for European countries
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
