As a Diagnostic Sonographer II - Educator you will be working at the University of Alberta Hospital in general ultrasound meeting the needs for Inpatients, Emergency Department patients, outpatients and the Kaye Edmonton Clinic patients, for both Adults and Pediatrics. Duties will include all scanning duties of a sonographer I which includes abdominal, pelvic, vascular, small parts, interventional, transplants and pediatric services as well as educator duties which includes scheduling and management of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer students, leading site discussions with educational institutes, collaborating with DI Quality Teams Clinical Educator, learning and passing along teaching of new equipment and protocols, working with radiology residents and fellows and working with the Ultrasound supervisor on protocols and other duties as required.

Description:
As a Diagnostic Sonographer II, you will coordinate the daily operations of the service area. This includes organizing and coordinating all technical and daily work activities for your team of Diagnostic Sonographer Is and other health care providers, ensuring that ultrasound services are available and operating at an optimum level. In addition, you will handle patient and staff complaints and problems related to services, maintain quality assurance and quality control programs for the area, assist in research, development, maintenance and evaluation of Sonography programs and services and assist in the development of policies, procedures and guidelines.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of extended diploma from an accredited ultrasound program or completion of certification in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited program. Active or eligible for registration with Sonography Canada and/or Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic & Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT and/or American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Minimum 2 years experience in an acute care, transplant center as a Sonographer, experience with preceptorship and/or mentoring, the ability to transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, and bed as well as transfer patients by slider board and mechanical lift. Ability to perform mobile Ultrasounds throughout the hospital

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Acute care scanning experience in both adult and pediatric patient populations, It's Your Move training in safe patient handling, sonography ergonomics, Impax, and connect care experience an asset. Preferred experience with Philips and GE Ultrasound machines and prior leadership experience. Registration with Sonography Canada in Vascular or American registry of RVT an asset. Formal preceptor or educator training an asset.
