Kindercare Program Lead

The KinderCare Program Lead is located at Kim Hung School-1950 Glastonbury Blvd.
Wage: $18.00 per hour
- Develops interest based program planning for children
- Works conjunction with parents, child care providers and other community professionals
- Supports families in making child care decisions
- Supports and collaborates with community child development services to facilitate the inclusion of children who require extra support in child care settings
- The Child Care Educator brings a strength-based approach to excellence in service delivery and reports to the Program Director
**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Facilitates the development and implementation of interest based learning for children
- Follows a family centered and developmentally appropriate approach that reflects the choices and priorities identified by their families.
- Conducts observation of and gathers information on children to further develop their interests
- Determines the children’s type and level of support needs following the guidelines, policies and procedures of the organization in consultation with parents, child care providers and other professionals using tools such as the support guide and developmental assessments
- Supports families in assessing and accessing services for their children and in self-advocacy
- Collaborates with other health, education, and community service providers to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to meet the needs of children and families.

**Qualifications and skills required**:
- Must have a high school diploma.
- Must have the certification in ELCC (level 1)
- Must hold and maintain current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Must hold and maintain a valid criminal record check as per AB Licensing Regulations
- Knowledge of the FLIGHT framework and curriculum is preferred.
- Energetic, and flexible with a strong work ethic.
- Must be able to lift and carry at least 40 pounds.
- Must have a minimum of 2-year experience in OSC education (as shown by positive reference from a former employer or supervisor in the OSC field)
- Must be a self-starter and have the ability to work independently and problem solve.
- Experience working effectively and in a non-judgmental manner with clients from different cultures, ethnicity, and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Experience with program planning, evaluation and report writing
- Demonstrated cultural competency.
- Knowledge of family systems and culturally competent practices.
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across programs and with community partners.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Master multi-tasker able to identify and act on priorities.
